I'm looking to buy some new scissors, just having a look on the internet at prices and styles.

I've always used straight scissors but I'm wondering what the difference is between straight, offset and twister styles. Is it just personal preference to which style you have or do they have different purposes?

Thanx geeks. x

I've always had offset and twister, your wrists are under less stress with offset and twisters ate amazing!! Take some getting used too! X

Hi,
Bluerinse is right, offset handles mean less stress on your wrist, arm and elbow. Twisters are even more flexible, as you can set up the angle of the thumb ring to suit your hand, but they do take a bit of getting used to. There are other options too like crane and flex handles (Mizutani even have one that does away with the thumb ring entirely!).

We've got a guide to choosing hairdressing scissors on our website which might help.

Hope you find something suitable.

xx

Thanks for your replies. I'm going to go to the wholesalers tomorrow and see if they've got any left handed offset ones I can have a hold of and look at.

I hate using mine at the minute their unbalanced and are just bending the hair.

Thanks for that link, some really good info on it. Strange that your scissors are your main tool and your taught nothing like that about them when your training. X
