Well luckily it was my other halfs aunt and not a complete stranger cos that would of been even worse, she wanted a luxury manicure and pedicure and i did her feet first the soaking, hard skin removal, file, ect.... That was all good but when it came to doing the gel polish it just ran (yes i shook the bottle before hand) and it was a mess when cured under the lamp so then had to take it all off, and cos that took so much time i didnt give her a luxury manicure like she wanted i just ended up polishing her nails which weren't brilliant cos i couldn't stop my hands from shaking! It was just a nightmare!I was about to post asking how it went what happened?
Oh dear, I remember my first gel polish application, it went everywhere!
Practice is the key to success, and unfortunately our nerves seem to always bash the knowledge out of our heads!
When I'm nervous doing a gel polish application I always put a lot less on the brush than I normally would do, as then I know I'm not going to flood the cuticle or sidewalls, and have more control. If I need more polish I can always go back and pick up more.
Shaking is one of those things that is going to go away with confidence, when you feel shaky, make sure you rest your hand on something stirdy. If I'm really bad or need to do something more precise, I hold my wrist with my other hand and leave the clients hand flat on the table. Also resting your elbow and fingers will help.
Don't worry, we've all been there!![]()
I'm in the same boat as you Laura. I only recently retrained after never doing anything with it years ago and I had my first shellac customer this week (a friend of mine) I was really nervous and I've text her everyday to make sure they are still on. I still won't do l&p on anyone yet though as I'm not comfortable with that at all!!
I bought myself a trainer hand which I'm going to practise on every night.
You won't take long til your nerves subside and you will be fantastic![]()
