So I've been a nail technician for over 20 years but I have only just this year ventured into the world of Gel polish. I know I'm a fossil
So I'm wearing the Gel on my acrylics, I use the Full IBD JUST GEL POLISH but when I soak clients gels I get it all over me which is making my Gels peel or come off at the edges.
My question is do you wear gloves for soak offs or can you give this old fossil some soak off tips to keep my nails glam
Thanks.

Yeah! Don't get it on your fingers!!! LOL :p

I'm sorry, I have an odd sense of humour ;) but on a serious note, you need to ensure you don't get acetone/remover on your fingers, on one hand (excuse the pun) to protect your manicure, but more importantly to protect yourself from over-exposure and potential allergic reaction.

I use soak off pads, the tinfoil pieces with a pad attached, and a Menda pump to dispense the remover directly on to the pad, very rarely get remover on my fingers. Perhaps you need to look at your technique and adjust it a bit. What are you currently doing? Perhaps we can suggest some solutions :D

I wear nitrile gloves for the soak off and until I have finished using cuticle remover.

Thanks for yours i know it sounds silly and obvious not to get it on my nails but i find it impossible:oops:
i have made my own foils and cotton wool pads that i pump acetone onto do it does run, i will get some gloves, thanks for the tip x

Try using less remover and smaller cotton wool pads, it only needs to cover the nail, and a half press of the menda pump is plenty of remover on that size of pad

In my esthetics/nails year long course, we had to wear fresh red polish every day. We were checked at end of each day for our polish still being intact, and were graded on it. So we learned very quickly how to properly hold the pad.

I use soak off trays in my shop. No problems with getting acetone on my hands. I soak for recommended time then use an orange wood stick to flake of the polish.

You need a pair of long curved tweezers!! :)

1.Cut a cotton round into 4 quarters. That is the perfect size to hold just enough acetone & fits the nail plate.

2.Use tweezers to pick up & saturate a quarter of the cotton.

3. Still using tweezers, with your left hand, place saturated quarter on nail plate & hold there while doing next step.

4. With right hand, pick up foil & place the middle of the foil on the cotton that's being held to the nail plate with tweezers.

5. Using your thumb & pointer finger, hold the foil to the nail & move the tweezers.

6. Tilt clients finger to the side slightly & pinch thumb and pointer so access acetone is removed from cotton & runs sideways off the foil so it's not on you or the client.

7. Finish wrapping foil from under to over & pinch it tight so it doesn't dry out.
