Hi All,
I am opening a tanning and beauty shop, I am just wondering what people would recommend regarding beauticians.
Would you suggest i have staff or rent space ?

Depends on your business model really and how much money you've got in the bank :)

Hi Carly

They are completely different operating models, with different pros and cons; both of which can work. But in essence it goes back to what you're trying to build: a salon that sells space to self employed renters, or a salon that sells services using your own people.

Different people want different things; you just have to decide which one is yours. :)

What's your budget? Do you have a clientele? If not, I'd wait before I do anything. No point paying people if there are few clients. Opening your own salon is extremely expensive so I'd keep costs to a minimum. Build a client base and then decide which way to go.

Hi Vic,

Thanks so much for the reply, i have enough to open a shop, kit it out and keep my head above water for a year and im sure that doesn't even include enough of a contingency. My plan was to rent some space to keep costs down and then re evaluate once a client base has been established, my only concern would be that the clients would be that of the person renting and not mine.
Lots to consider and i do so want to make it work.
