Iv got my aunts colour tomorrow, shes just got over lukemia and her hair is about a inch and a half long, iv given her 6 skin tests in the last 2 weeks just to make me feel better but now it's tomorrow I'm really scared.
Any tops or advice would be welcome. Xoxo

aw you're going to make her feel like a million dollars hon :D my mum had what seems like a thousand rounds of chemo, and she loved getting her hair coloured again when she had a few inches! just be vigilent about the length of time its on, and get her to report any changes in sensation on the skin asap xox
hope you get on ok you really will be making a big difference dont underestimate the psychological effect of what your doing for her :) xxx

Keep calm and remember your doing a massive thing for her.
After the hell shes been through dealing with her condition having her hair coloured will make her feel amazing.
One of my ex cancer patients once said to me the first time we coloured her hair after her treatment ended was the best shed felt since before she was diagnosed so you should be humbled to make someone feel so good about themselves after such a horrendous time.
Deep breaths!

That's what I'm scared of, any little changes when it's all over and not just a dab behind the ear.

I really want to give her a boost, and after all the help she gave when my nan was dying I could never re pay her for so it's my jesture to her to make her feel good in herself.

I know I went ott on the skin test, but I'm terrified of reactions and now I just thought would any of the chemo have left a residue or something in her hair that could make it go green or something? Xoxo

Ps thanks everyone for the encouragement xoxo

i can only speak from the experiences i had from mum, and we never had a problem with that. we always used a nice rich chocolate with a base shade as her hair came in very white but never had any funny results. could you call macmillan or similar for advice? xxx

I always go ott on the patch testing before colouring when my clients had treatment!
But if it reassures you in your mind that youve over checked you can do no more than that.
The whole time the colours on her hair you will be chewing your nails off lol (im normally hopping around staff room in a flap!!)but when its rinsed and she sees it her reaction will be so worth all the panicking on your part!
Its an amzing feeling to make someone feel so much better after treatment.
You will be fine!
Keep us updated.
Il be online at work tomorrow so il keep popping on to see how its going

Think I will call Macmillan tomorrow just for a little more, but I can't see any problems, going to match her hair to her wig so it looks like she's just had it cut short.
You guys really are great, I don't know if I'm not as nervous any more or more excited that she will be more confident afterward xoxo

Will update as soon as I finish and have had my first beer to chill out. Xoxo

Hi just a thought but if your really worried could you not try a water based semi for the first time colouring after treatments as they don't have many chemicals? Good look :)

She has quite a lot of grey so a semi wouldn't do much, but it's a great idea for someone younger, I might even get one as a toner if the highlights are too light xoxo

Hey guys, the deed is now done!

Thanks for all your help an encouragement, turned out really well, maybe a little lighter than I had hoped ( came out around a 9.3 not a 8.3) but that might be down to the chemo or that her hair may be a little more resistant.
Giving it a week to recover before I put in more lowlights in a much darker shade, I'm thinking a mix of 6.3 and 6.2 in cap.

And thank you for making me realise what a reaction she would give, I wouldn't have coped with the crying if I hadn't been pre warned how life changing it is xoxo

Hey.
So glad it went well for you both!
x:biggrin:

 glad it went well :) x

Thanks guys! Really do love this site when there's people like you about to calm my nervs a lot. Looked in colour book and am going to put 6.4 and 6.2 in lowlights to get the colour of the wig look xoxo

Its great when we can all support each other through the panic!
I really am pleased it worked for you and hopefully it will give you the confidence if you gain any other clients in the same situation.
Have a glass of wine (or a shot!!)to congratulate yourself,you deserve it!
