Terrible mistake?

So today I was happily doing a Gel manicure chit chatting away. I put my top coat on and cleansed after curing!!!!!
But no Massive nightmare, I suddenly realised that I cleansed the hand I hadn't top coated yet so the colour went all dull and onto my pad.
So I reapplied a coat of colour and double time cured it then applied the top coat.
I told the client if it comes off I will re do that for free as it was my mistake.
Did I do the right thing reapplying the colour and a top coat or now as it's got no inhibition layer in between 1 coat will it come off?
Thanks for any advice. I use IBD Just Gel polish btw.

I think you did the right thing applying colour and top coat and I don't know for sure but I think those nails will be fine, I don't see why not. I've done similar silly mistakes before in the past, we're only human! And I would've fixed the nails the same way as you did so try not to panic

Hiya, I have done this plenty of times whilst chatting away to my clients! I have never had any problems with it coming off I think it's because the first colour coat is still properly adhered to the basecoat xxx

It shouldn't be a problem, many remove the sticky surface of the colour coat before stamping or free hand nail art, then topcoat so it's a fairly standard practise.

I've done this before now, I just filed over it to break the bond a little and just put the colour coat and top coat on again and it was fine xx

Yeap think we have all done that as some point . You did not really need to apply another coat of colour though . You could just have gone ahead and applied the top gel . Worst that will happen ( if at all ) is that the top coat may peel a little but you have already warned her of this . The colour wont come off but just as I said worst that will happen is top coat MAY peel

yes as trinity said above I remove sticky layer off colour coat to do nail art then top coat and cure so should be fine x
