Hi, just wondering about tinting eyelashes. At college, I was shown just to apply the tint to the top of the lashes and it would seep through to the bottom ones. However, I quite often find that the bottom lashes haven't taken the tint as well as the top ones. Does anyone apply tint to the bottom lashes before asking the client to close there eyes and then continuing with the top ones.

Thanks

Di

This is how I have been taught to tint lashes.

Get the client to look upwards then apply to the bottom lashes of both eyes, get the client to then close their eyes and apply to top lashes.

Just remember to get your Vaseline up nice and close to the lower lash line but ensuring that it doesn't actually touch the lash.

hth.

To be honest, even when you do put tint on the bottom lashes, it never takes that well. Nobody seems to know why. xxxxx

Thanks for that. Have a client this evening, so will give that a go.
Do you also use cotton pads on top of the vaseline underneath the eyes, or do you not bother with that?

Definately use the cotton pads, cut to fit the eye shape and the vaseline helps to keep them in place too. Then once the tint is applied you lay another cotton pad on top and then you can grip them both together to remove afterwards and they normally take the tint off with them.

Good luck for tonight.

Because the eyelashes at the bottom are more sparse, it doesnt look as though the colour has taken that well, unless theyre really fair x

Ive never found it makes much difference trying to do the bottoms first. Also most peoples eyes water when you go near them and they have them open then this makes the tint more likely to go in their eyes.Just do it the normal way but push the tint down into the lashes so you get the bottom ones in as well.I always use an long orange stick not a tint brush.

Me too! So much easier to control I find.

good tip, i push the tint down as well then it hits the bottom lashes fine, i try to make the cotton pad underneath the eye as thin as possible so the shorter lashes on the bottom don't get trapped underneath and it adheres to the skin better:)

I always apply the tint from underneath first, then from the top. If the client has really short lashes then I have them open their eyes and I do the bottom lashes first. But, I usually have no problems getting a good tint on the bottom lashes when I use the first method I mentioned.

probably beause the lashes are thinner.

thicker hairs can grab colour better.

saying that though, i dont have a problem with tinting lower lashes. I do them with the top ones, and they always come out as dark.
