i use calgel and i cant say i have a problem with it at all, infact iv converted most of my clients over to gel and i usually have tips on myself and i only ever lose a nail if i abuse it the only thing i can think of that i dont do which i was taught at my training, is put a layer of gel on the nail before applying a tip i found this to be a bit of a time waster so i apply the tips straight to the nail not the way i was trained i know but works well for me!
