Hiya am colouring a girls hair tomorrow and she wants her blonde toned down but wants it to be permanent her roots are a level 6 to 7 and I was going to use 8,3 with 8,0 on the roots 6% as I don't want it too warm but just 8,3 3% on the ends - do u think this will be too warm? Do i need to add another tone? In her words she doesn't want to look too "ginger" in my experience before its always better To go warmer anyway when colouring over bleached hair. I wanted to use a semi but she's not keen. I'm also keeping some of her highlights
Please opinions

I would just use 8 on the roots as you will get warmth from lifting her natural base. On the ends you definitely need to add warmth so 8.3 would be good! Sometimes I add a touch of 7.3 as the bleached ends will lose colour and tone very quickly!

What colour range do u use?

Great thanks for your help! When your mobile this is great to get opinions as you haven't got any colleagues for a second opinion lol. She's a bit scared to take the plunge do you recommend keeping lots of her highlights but quite finely.?

Or wella sometimes :)

Totally agree. A really good tip I was recently given on a course was to always remember the colour you are applying is only 50% of the finished result the other 50% is your existing base and undertones, so you will already have your 8.3 as your existing undertone. ( orange ) If you use 8.3 it would result in an 8.33 if that makes sense?! so an 8 will still give you a lovely 8.3 result. I agree with the gold on the ends of course as they are lighter and will grab ash and repel warmth so gold all the way there. xx

If your going to put a fair few foils in I'd go for the bleach to match with her ends and add in another warm
Tint in the foils like a base 9 or 10 to add a tonal difference, go slightly stronger with the bleach around the face so visually she feels lighter and it will be less of a shock

Great advice everyone thank you- will let you know the result - hoping she doesn't think it's "too ginger" lol. X

:DI always use a quasi over bleach, even though it's 1/2 semi, 1/2 permanent the extra staining power makes it like a permanent but lasts longer, better condition and shine.eg 8/73 .would do a strand test first though. good luck.xx
