I think what mainly upsets the apple cart is when we have an influx of trolls, and the mods can spot em a mile off (bless em).:green:
I hate the term police the site...I don't see it like that...prefer cleaning lady...
I think there are instances where a hair...skin...mod would come in handy...
Hey Colin...are you putting your name up for any future mod positions....???
*is the thread pointing out that some people feel that we do need mods who are experts in every field of the site, if that was the case then surely we would have a techy mod, l&p mod, gel mod, fibreglass mod, manicure and pedicure mod, hair mod, waxing mod, spray tan mod, chit chat mod, blog mod,**It would be good for the thread if we could refrain from "oh arent the Mod's wonderfull."!.."they do it all for love and dont get paid you know"..etc.etc..but they are wonderful, what else should we be saying about them !!!!!!*The topic is one not about the specific skill and commitment levels of our existing mod's but mearly one about the future diverse nature of topics which will ubdoubatbly present themselves and the possible levels of understanding that future moderation may require??...not wanting to cause trouble at all, but surely that is for the mods and sam to contemplate if the need arises*The secondary issue is that if there were say a Hair or other qualified Mod other than nails specific would that encourage those areas to grow??if there is only a small percentage of hair geeks then even if the is a hair geek mod...how would that grow that specific area ????*So lets Put away the pistols and look at the topic itself as a good debate can be had.no pistols...debating is what we are doing By the way what is the first prize for the competition and do I have to travel far to get it :lol:
The way I see it is this... if you think we need more mods for specific forums then the person to direct your comments to is Sam (the administrator and owner of the site) and not to ask the whole site whether they think the current mods are up to the job.In so far as aspirations of being a mod myself ..well erm...
1) Dont see that as a question ever being asked of me
not in the near future, we've got enough mods to cope with everything at the moment.
2) not on your life..couldnt put up with the c**p you guy's do.:lol:
got that right!!!
By the way what is the first prize for the competition and do I have to travel far to get it :lol:
The mod who's offering the prize lives in Valencia (me), flights are cheap but accommodation isn't LMAO
ooooh I despreatly need a cleaner..are you free next Wednesday :lol:

Why is that?? I don't like to lie.
The topic is one not about the specific skill and commitment levels of our existing mod's but mearly one about the future diverse nature of topics which will ubdoubatbly present themselves and the possible levels of understanding that future moderation may require??...
We have geeks on here who are qualified and experienced in numerous things and give fabulous advice....it doesn't mean you have to be a mod to share your knowledge mate. THAT is what makes you a sincere geek IMO.
The secondary issue is that if there were say a Hair or other qualified Mod other than nails specific would that encourage those areas to grow??
Why? What difference would it make?
So lets Put away the pistols and look at the topic itself as a good debate can be had.
No pistols here hun. But don't really understand the nature of the thread. As someone very close to the site says you must ask yourself first and foremost why the thread has been posted and remember that although you may not always get recognition for advice given it is always there for future reference for all geeks.
Like has already been said....Sass is a beauty geek as well as a nail geek.
By the way what is the first prize for the competition and do I have to travel far to get it :lol:

At the end of the day, if you don't like the way the site is run then you have two choices, either stay and put up with it the way it is or go and make your own site... that's in no way meant as a personal attack, more of an observation... if it ain't broke why try to fix it??? The site runs perfectly well the way it is, I see no reason to change it, unless of course you have other reasons for additions to the mod squad?!?
:idea:It may just be worthwhile reminding the initial comment posted:idea:
"Please remember this is a Thought Provoking Thread topic and not a APT(argument provoking Thread) neither is this my opinion ,nor meant as a contentious issue or directed at any singular individuals or the site as a whole...but mearly one for TPW....so lets see if we can discuss as adults."
Lets see if we can do it
I really don't see the reason behind this thread, as I don't with similar threads we've had like it in the past!!!:idea:It may just be worthwhile reminding the initial comment posted:idea:
I answered that on my first reply.
"Please remember this is a Thought Provoking Thread topic and not a APT(argument prevoking Thread) neither is this my opinion ,nor meant as a contentious issue or directed at any singular individuals or the site as a whole...but mearly one for TPW....so lets see if we can discuss as adults."
I believe it is being discussed thus so.
Lets see if we can do it
I believe there is an old saying, if it aint broke dont fix it!!!
mmmm I wonder if those same words were said just before the site was expanded to include all the new additions of possible topics we can and more importantly others that may need assistance can now all enjoy
Now you appear to be getting off topic chuck, we were not discussing site expansion in general we were discussing the idea of adding forum specific mods.
If you realy take a mo to think about this posting ...it actually is a very posative one
Perhaps you ought to explain why as I am getting the feeling nobody else is seeing this!!
I really don't see the reason behind this thread, as I don't with similar threads we've had like it in the past!!!
What's the real reason for it?
Are you looking for Sam to appoint a tanning geek as a moderator?
If so then why?
Do you not feel that your current moderators are up to the job of moderating the site?
I'm totally confused as to the true direction of this thread!
Perhaps you ought to explain why as I am getting the feeling nobody else is seeing this!!
The initial posting I think clarifies any possible illusions on agenda's or dissatisfactions , deviouse motives bla bla bla...
Focus the mind on the posted question and posative nature of it and a good TPT may just follow.
The posted question is also not directed at Mods but at geeks..particulary those that may have opinion on the subject matter.
You asked 2 questions in your original post...I do think "chuck" that a re read of the posted question may be of some assistance to your understanding of the subject matter
Could you please explain the benefit of having a moderator for each specific forum or specific treatment?Would it be benifical if there was at least one Mod with a backround reflective of each category type?
No, I don't see the benefit.
In other words if you took a traffic Policeman off the high streets of Tokyo city and stuck him on Oxford Street in London to direct the traffic ...would he be as effective as a Bobby???
As per my first reply to this point... directing traffic is directing traffic regardless of the country and so on and so on...
