Hello!
I’ve been considering names for my business. It’s just a room at home and just myself. I’m in a village, not a big town. I’m considering names that nobody else appears to have in that I’ve searched on the trademark register and tried searching names online and on social media. I don’t want others to use the same name but not so sure that anyone using the same name in the future will matter much, unless they’re on my doorstep.

So I’m interested to know how many of you who just work from home or on a mobile basis did actually register your name as a trademark? Is it an unnecessary cost? ‍♀️

Most don't but I recommend it. £75 but quite a bit of paperwork.

I’m sure I read quite a bit higher than £75. More like £200

If you don't trade mark then you run the risk of another business who can find you via companies house, social media can claim all of your profits and not only that take you to court which is just unbelievable. It is around £175 + VAT x

One more question. Can I trademark 2 different trademarks in the one application? Or do you think I’d have to trademark them individually?

When I have personally trademarked, I did a name/word and I waited two months for it to be oppose/approved it was a high risk name and I was at risk of being taken to court by german lawyers of a multimillion dollar company. So I did that patiently waited.. got it. I then did the logo which took two months to oppose which was higher risk because they sent the logo to the other companies which was allowed to appose it.

I wouldn't of done both at the same time for the sake of time. Because if one doesn't get approved, you have lost your money and don't get any of it back. Also trademark eagle offer free advice about trademarks, you can also write your trademark in and it will tell you if theres a risk and whether you should do it or not. Trademark eagle told me not to do it personally and said the risk was too great and I would loose my money. I did it anyway because you have to live on the edge! x

Sorry, my bad, I must have been thinking about something else. It is about £200 and then £50 extra per class.
