For those of you who charge travel costs to clients, how do you calculate it? My partner says it's 45p per mile is this correct? Tia!

For HMRC it’s about 45p per mile. What you charge is up to you. It’s a good guide in my mind but it really adds up.

I’m mobile and I find it’s my time that’s eaten into more than my fuel, sounds daft but the time travelling and setting up/packing means I fit less appointments in, I’m thinking about setting a ‘call out’ charge so to speak as I have a home salon room too, does this sound unreasonable do you think? I would then only charge extra if it was outside of my town, to cover the extra fuel and time xx

I don’t travel far like 5 mile radius. It s not about the petrol but my time, if it takes me 1.5h round trip that’s two haircuts I could do so they would have to worth loosing that time

I have never done mobile.. But what about introducing a call out charge, then add your service

I find it amazing that certain services such as plumbers, washing machine repair people charge this but others can't

I only do mobile if it’s worth my while so either a cut and colour service or several cuts (family) at one venue. Otherwise, they come to me.

Thanks everyone I can't offer treatments at home as the deeds state no business can run from my home address. Would be more ideal for me but nevermind!
