Following on from a couple of recent threads I was wondering which make up brands everyone uses in their salons/mobile. Or do you not stick to just one brand and mix and match between your preferred products?

I would love to get into make up in quite a big way but I want to concentrate on just setting up the business first (oh and passing my courses!!) and look to next summer before advertising bridal services. So that gives me a year to do some research!

I do stick to one brand I use Jean D'Arcel. My clients and myself love their products!!! You will love doing make-up!

I use my favourite products from all different brands. My kit contains a lot of Stila, Benefit, MAC, Chanel and NARS and bits and bobs from other brands. I do not retail to my wedding clients.

You will find that a number of professional brands offer a discount for professional MUAs and virtually all of them offer gratis for editorial work.

I use Jane Iredale and Bobbi Brown.

no surpirse here i use lily lolo but maybelline for mascara - love maybelline!

Virgin Vie. Ive tried many brands over the years & prefer V V. Having a friend who's a sales rep also helps :wink2:

Art Deco for me. I absolutely love it!!

I use Jane Iredale in the salon & mobile.

They also offer training including bridal. I choose this range as I had previously used it at one of the spa's ive worked in so knew how good it was.

Since ive been using the JI foundation I have had so many comments about how nice it looks, I was using MAC before which I also love but imo JI is even better.

I prefer not to be restricted to one brand so for mobile I have lots of different brands like Amy,but in the salon we use Darphin.

I do think it hinders things on the retail side of things though, because you cant retail the products.

I have to say though that I dont personally think they have enough to choose from, although they are nice products to use and we do retail them well after clients have had a make up treatment.

I use a range of make-up from clinique ,bobbi brown, mac ,chanel like the other girls said i also hate sticking to one brand and like to use things i know that work and i like to

Ema

I have a mix of Anthony Braden shadows & foundations (great colours) bare escentuals lip colours & glosses etc, Paula Dorf,.

Good to cherry pick the best of certain ranges.

I use Jane Iredale which I love.

my makeup range is many different brands

e.g.sacha, rimmel, maxfactor, maybelline, barry m, iman, fashion fair

Thankyou everyone for your replies.

Well I'm trying out some mineral make up at home on myself at the moment but the jury's out on that one, although I think it's probably simply a case of more practice needed!

I like the idea of using MAC though. I think their colours are fantastic and their staying power great. And apparently you can have some sort of corporate membership which allows you between 35-40% off their prices.

So I have lots to think about but the best thing is I passed my first make-up assesment tonight with flying colours!! I did a bridal look and the tutor was really impressed.:green:

I have started using Artdeco and it's great!! also the prices are so reasonable for such good quality.

Oh boy the fun starts eh? I think I finally got it down about right with applying the mineral makeup. Nothing compared to my liquid makeup which I just slapped on, blended down under the jaw, powdered and I was good to go until afternoon time where I had to go to the bathroom and blot excess oil and reapply the powder again.
congrats on your makeup assessment. :D
