These are a full set of enhancements (CND Velocity tips) with a gel overlay using NSI body builder cover pink & extreme white on tips. I would appreciate and comments, good or bad and also any pointers on how I could improve. I am quite pleased with this set but think there are definitely areas I need to improve on and I want to get better. Thanks guys.:Grope:

Overall I have seen much worse so you are on the right track.

Your whites are too thick and there is a dip between the whites and the nail bed which is completely unbalanced and will be the cause of breakages as there is no apex here.

Looking from the side view, you need to have a graceful continual curve from the eponychium to the free edge and if you look at these from the side, there will be a distinct dip before you get to zone 1. A bit more product in zone 2 would fill in this dip and add strength where now there is an imbalance.

Your sidewalls need to be straightened up (you can see where the white is wider than the pink and it shouldn't be) but the work around the eponychium and side walls looks nice and smooth so good job there. HTH

Thanks Geeg. The imbalance/dip between the pink & the white was one of the things I had noticed and need to improve on. It is particularly obvious on the index finger. I will focus on this next time. Thanks for the pointers, much appreciated. I have just ordered a copy of nail class so looking forward to learning a great deal more.x

Ps Any advice on thinning the white section out? I find I need to use it fairly thick to ensure even coverage. Should I compensate for this by building the apex up to a level that covers this or should I be trying to use the white more sparingly?x

I think I could go verbatim with Gigi and mention that I would lay down the white on the tip in 2 very thin layers.

Maybe your mix ratio is a bit wet which can account for uneven coverage or (which is what I expect is the case) you are 'stabbing' at the product with the tip of your brush to get it where you want it to go and creating thin grey spots because you are making dips.

A correct method for doing Zone 1 is explained in 'nailclass' called 'Making it Smile'.

You need to learn to rest the flattened tip of your brush lightly on the surface of the bead and gently nudge it into place. Never let the tip of the brush poke into, or stab into the bead, or you will create a dip that has to be filled and when you do that zone 1 becomes thicker and thicker.
