If your price is working for you and you have customers paying it then that's fine. I just personally couldn't justify charging that much. I'm not saying how much people should charge, i just think it's a quick treatment that doesn't require much training and doesn't cost much and i wouldn't pay over £20.
I started my tans at £17.50 and hardly did any. I then put them down to £12.50 and i now have loads. I haven't advertised either, so it's purely word of mouth from people who have had it done.
If you are good then people will come to you. A lot does depend on where you live though.

Didnt there used to be a password to protect this info? I'm sure there was. I'll email Fiona now because i'm not happy either!!! xxx

Of course spray tanning is one of the easiest treatments to do!

But im a bit scared to lower my price incase people think oh she must be cheap and using cheap products or must be no good to be charging XX when most places are charging XX
Again I will refer to nails, ten years ago it would cost me £40 for a set and £30 for infills. This was standard pink and white or natural. No other choices.
A good living was made by nail techs far and wide.
Some people came along and undervalued the service, prices dropped, a lot of techs had to let go of their salons, and go back to what ever it was they did before.
What the hell is wrong with being paid well for providing a good service?
My hair dresser charges me £32 for a cut wash and blow dry, I never have products on my hair.
So what do you think it costs her for a small dolop of shampoo and conditioner, her water and electric for the hair dryer?
If the lady makes a good profit from me, then good for her. I'm glad she can go on nice holidays with her family. I'm pleased that she can afford to drive a nice car.
And I don't see why I shouldn't be able to do the same.
This is not a charity its a business. Its your business and it should run at a healthy profit. If you cut your prices to the bone then you are a fool to your self. Up and down the country £20 for a full body tan is the standard with price breaks for parties.
So far it hasn't made it into the nns salons at a stupid price and I for one would like it to stay that way.

Not ranting at Violet Star, because she's lovely xx But ranting at the fact that she is feeling pressured into lowering her prices and she shouldn't.

Hi Angelina I know what your saying I charge £20.00 to do to them at their home and £15.00 if they come to me which I think is fare, as not only do I have to get my car out, load it up, then set everything up, then pull it all down again, then empty it from my car and put it all away again, then buying hats,Knickers which I don't charge for. I really don't think if you are using a professional product £20.00 per tan is expensive at all. And a party of 4/5 is even cheaper. I have paid a lot more than I am charging to have rubish product put on me,no consultation, no choice of tans or explanation of the different % ect, and then at the end of it turn orange instead of the Golden Brown promised. I have friends who have been in my local Town Centre paying £10 for a Tan and come to me crying as it was streaky, orange and no consultation ect ect, this is why I got the Training, one to know my products and give clients a consultation and help them choose the right % not just slap any old solution on them. I know if someone comes to me they are going to go home happy and love their Tan. :)

Never under value your profession. When you are mobile like I am I have to drive somewhere, set up, spray, take down and drive again. What takes 10 mins in a salon take 30 mins mobile and to be honest can be hard work. The client also is investing in you and yes it might be easy but they are trusting you, exposing themselves etc. etc. Once you lower your prices too it is extremely difficult to increase. No point in being a busy fool.

Waxing only costs pennies too and is easy but most therapists keep to the same price bands. If we all did the same we wouldnt have these price wars going on and earn a decent wage for a good job. :)

Hi I have just checked my Emails and Lynne
Thank you for your email. Thank you for pointing this out. I will have a chat
to our Senior Management and contact you shortly.
So hopefully it will be removed.:)

Yes i see your point - same with my hair dresser she charges me 11.50 for a hair cut she is my auntie and my sisters friend charges 5.00 for a hair cut you never guess who does a better job? She charges me 35.00 for high lights when i want them and the way my auntie does my hair is amazing and i will always have my hair done with her just because she does a good job and the product she uses are fab for my hair!

Again with nails id rather pay 35-40 for a set of nails by a technician who doesnt use MMA rather than pay 15.00 for my nails to get ruined.

Your right if your good at what you do and obviously untrained people cant just tan themselves they will turn to us when they want to look gorgeous and tanned so they will pay for it.

Thanks for your advice hun xx

Also just to add... I really did undercut myself short the other day

I charge 20.00 for a full body mobile or home based
Well i had a call out for a spray tan which is around 15 minutes from where i live no problem i thought well i was wrong...

I had to pay my mum 3.00 for petrol for taking me, it look me 25 minutes to get there had to carry all my stuff up 3 flights of stairs took 25 minutes in the ladies house including tanning her had to carry my stuff down 3 flights of stairs and go home

It look me and hour and a half to do this ladies spray tan for 20.00 but i only got 17.00 out of it, i was knackerd and it took up 6 slots that i would have got in at home!

But i learnt from that one now :smack:

thats really bad that they have that on theresite, they know alot of mobile tanners will be using them. you did right in complaining hun they need to know thats not right. like the others have said she needs to realise that the machine alone are quite pricey, then your petrol, tame etc. Dont let it get to you hun, you tried offering her a alternative thats all you can do x

I don't use cheap products either. I use Fake Bake and Celebrity Secrets and am just about to add Sienna x.
Someone can have a great tan for £10 and will tell everyone. They could have a bad tan for £25 and they will tell everyone!
If you are good then people will come to you irrespective of price.
Lots of mobile spray tanners charge £15 for a party of 6 say. You are still using the same amount of pants, hats etc....you are just saving on petrol. You are still making a good profit out of charging people £15 which is only £2.50 more than i charge.

I am sorry but we should not have to explain a breakdown of our costings to clients this is private information we dont ask personnel questions with regards to their finances and earnings so why should this kind of information be readily available for our PROSPECTIVE CLIENTS to see. I have emailed Sienna X with my complaint.
Absolutely, the same goes for this site and I've removed all pro prices from the thread :green:

Remember guys, this is the world wide web and anyone from anywhere can read these threads :wink2:

Thanks girls for bringing this to my attention, I have emailed sienna and complained!!!

do you know what, I charge 20 pounds per tan and I cover a ten mile radius.........

I COULDN'T GET IN A CAB AND DRIVE THERE AND BACK FOR THAT AMOUNT NEVER MIND GET A SPRAY TAN AT THE OTHER END!!!!!!!!!!!!

NUFF SAID!! :grr:

Hi Not sure if you have checked Sienna x website it has been removed now and changed. :)

Too right. They are paying for A SERVICE. This includes, all the bits and bobs needed, your time, your advice, your expertise. Then there is product cost to consider! I personally think with spray tanning solutin, that while they suggest you can get xx amount of tans from a litre, it is very rarely right. I never get as much as they say out of them! Tans are tailored to the client, and the amount of solution used needs to take into consideration height and size of client, perhaps extra spray on legs or shoulders or elsewhere (which I don't charge extra for). I can whizz a client in and out in ten to fifteen minutes if I want to, but I don't. I allow 30-40 minutes. So taking off the cost of products and heating, lighting etc, the amount of 'profit' left is small, for my time.

I charge £15 for a salon based SiennaX tan and I KNOW my clients feel that this is reasonable, because I ask! I compare myself to other spray tanning in the area. I have had clients say they can't believe I am so cheap, for such a lovely tan.

Ooh I know i'm late to this thread but its got me hopping!

cup of tea to calm down.... even the baby is hopping....

Hi guys Sienna have got back to me thismorning to explain the cost of the tan has now been removed. Prices are still on there regarding solution and retail products though.
Can our customers buy off there too ? xxx

I did a one day course a few years ago. I charged £10. Then year before last £12.50. Now I charge £15. I understand there is no expertise to be gained after one day, as previously said its not rocket science. BUT. after a few years of regular tanning, I have tweaked my service so it is just so. I'm not an expert by far ,but I know I can do a blummin good tan, from a combination of products and my experience! I can honestly say I have no complaints, and have lots of recommendations. All you tanning geeks who are now stressing over what you charge, please don't undervalue yourselves x

so you wont be needing me to help encourage the little n out then

Shame I was rather looking forward to all them KFC's on route :lol::lol:

Well I am glad they have removed the cost price they must have had loads of irate emails to attend to this morn, just checked my email and nothing back yet, I would like to think I received one in return. :)

wowsa what a stir salon geeks can cause - we could change the world!lol!

Just on a quick note, I think your client would have been a pain in the backside anyway if she's complaining about that without even having the tan done! Maybe you dodged a bullet.

I personally dont think spray tanning is rocket science but I have seen tans out there that prove it is rocket science to some!

B xxx
