I posted in gumtree around March for this and got a good number of responses (around 100 this time versus 230ish the first time for the same role). Found someone I liked, offered the job, it then went pear shaped. Updated my ad, interviewed more people, found someone I was happy with- same thing but this time, at least she told me why- and I suspect I'll still work with her in different capacities.
Where do you find your staff? Word of mouth has not worked- right people not free at the right time- and my ad is now out of date and I'll need to re-advertise. Currently I got a bit lucky with one of the apprenticeship schemes that contacted me after seeing my initial ad and I have a lovely boy who's a quick learner to cover me temporarily.
I also have a lot of guys applying for the role- what are your experiences with it? I took a chance with this boy- he's quite 'blokey' but I'm happy so far. He's off to uni soon so I need someone quick. A bit fed up of people seemingly being interested, then saying yes after thinking about it- then doing an about-turn. I'm offering a decent London salary and its only Mon-Fri and not very long hours.
Would you go back to gumtree?
