well i can say Crap crap wasted all my money now broke and have to go and work. It just wasn't worth it:mad:
Oh no... where did you go? what did you study? what was bad? was here anything good?
Chin up eh?

i studied at a college in my area (not the most local one) and i found the level of teaching really good. i had two tutors, one fab who was super knowledgeable, the other a lot weaker, so more home study was needed. that said, it was a really in depth CIBTAC diploma, with tha old fashiones written end exams and asessment days, but totally worth it. my training was free as i was under 19, although there were three older students on the course. There was also only about 8 people on it, so there was more one to one training.
College can be alot of what you put into it, as well as having a poor lecturer/good lecturer, adequate/inadequate facilities etc.
The courses i have undergone since college for beauty have been at private training centes and again the quality is tops, small classes and quality teaching. It was also pricey! but worth every penny.
the best way forward is to have an interview/face to face chat with the prospective training provider and this will give you an insight into the quality of teaching. ask to see a lecturer at work, or at least speak to them. paying more for education doesnt guarantee a better education- most training providers will want your business (free ed is still funded by gov so they get the money) so should accomodate your requests.if they dont- what are they hiding.
Goodluck. HTHs :)

I did my training at Totton College southampton when the beauty department was still in its infancy.
The training was ok and i was there full time and didnt have to pay for my course.I origanally was going to go to Southampton, but my fiance then who is now my husband knew the head of department really well and her partner Kyle, who i have alot of respect for.
I was the only "mature" student but i got alot of help, and they put up with my frustrations and tantrums,as i am very hot tempered, but they gave me alot of confidence and i thank them for that.
After my nvq 2 i was going to do my nvq 3 at Fareham, but something told me to stay at Totton, and so i finished my nvq 3 at Totton.
Since then i went on and did indian head massage, ear candling, aromatherapy, and theatrical and media make up as seperate units.
I still keep intouch with the college, and judge many competitions for them in beauty, and have a good relationship with the college.
If i see good students i have them on work experience and "cultivate" them to the standard i would want them to be.
Totton College was a new beginning for me.It introduced me to something that i wish i learnt many moons ago,but now im glad i took that route.
I thank my husband aswell,as he is a good teacher, and we learn from each other,we are soul mates in our work.
The learning curve is never ending, and passing on knowledge to people is a gift that one shouldnt pass by.

I study nails and everything was bad

I feel that I got my money's worth, but I don't think other students with me did.. I was always on top of my Instructor with questions, she was kinda slack but had a lot of knowledge, I had to force it out of her sometimes.. But I got my education because I made damn sure of it, I wasn't scared as alot of people where, I jumped in and learned everything I could.. A lot of people left disappointed, but I didn't..

Hiya

I am just completing a year's NVQII beauty therapy course at London College of Beauty Therapy and whilst it was £1300 for the course I do think that it has been worth it, like anything there are bits that I thought they could have improved on but the college itself is nice, it is a working salon too so you practice on clients, the tutors are helpful and I done this part time around my full time working hours so I would recommend the college to anyone!

:)

I could not vote as I did not have to pay for my beauty treatment.

I was returning to college after 9 years being a mum and not working so got european funding for my three years.

I would say that you must be sure its what you want to do. It is a lot of very hard work and if you are not committed it will be a waste of money, lots of girls dropped out over the three years and several did not even go into the industry at the end of their training which is a shame.

For myself, I was prepared to pay and would have been happy to do so. I love my change of direction (I was a secretary for years and years) and am very happy I took that step.

Good luck, and I hope this helps.
