i installed a client with ultra sonic cold fusion and after 4 days she text and said she had washed them and gone really dry and she couldnt brush them. i found out she used pantene shampoo as she had run out of extension shampoo, i told her to use the correct shampoo again. she just text and said she had a conditioning treatment at a salon and they told her the hair was rubbish, the suplier i use is usually really good never had this trouble before.
apart from contacting the supplier what else can i do? advise please

Using a rubbish shampoo especially like pantene can wreck extensions in just one wash. I highly doubt it was the hair if you havent had problems before. I would have ensured she had the correct aftercare before she left the salon tbh but its not your fault she used pants products on it.
Offer to take them out and send them off to be checked, but ill bet they come back saying its her fault.
You need to have a look at her hair too - youll be able to tell why her hair is in bad condition. Stick to your guns though, as its not your fault

she has had extensions befor and said she didnt need the products as she had some left. i think its because she still owes me money( will never let a client pay some at the time and rest later again) she admited that she used pantene as she thought it would be alright even though i told her loads of times to use the correct products. i have emailed my suppier to see if they have had any complaints about the hair.
i will offer to remove them and send to supplier x thank you for your advice i knew i was prob in the right but its nice to have someone else tell you xxx

We live and learn, I learnt too by being soft! I now charge my cleints for the hair upon booking the appointment, with the rest to be paid on the day. Ive had to toughen up alot. Its hard, but we gotta make money :)
xx

feel like telling her to do one lol should i ask her to pay me the money she owes and take them out for nothing if the suppliers have had no complaints about other hair from the same batch or just take them out and forget the monies owed?

I would still press her for the money she owes. You did a job, that would have been fine had SHE not ballsed it up. Tell her to come in so you can have a look and discuss what needs to be done. then when she is there, tell her you need to settle the balance for the work done, but as a gesture of goodwill, you will take her extensions out for her.
Im sure she will be fine with this. If she isnt, not paying for extensions is actually theft, and seen as so by law ( as the extensions are a tangable object, and not a service) If you let her know this im sure she will come around ;)
xx

thank you so much for your help x hopefully this wont happen again x

Hey hun, not sure if this is useful but i had hair exts done by a very well known (and very expensive!) brand and altho they tried to sell me the special products i stuck with pantene and my hair stayed soft & lovely right until the end. Sounds like dodgy hair to me id have a stern word with ur supplier xxx

You do not appear to be a qualified hair professional and so you should not be posting uninformed and incorrect advice in this forum. This forum is for Hairdressing professionals only.

I wish pantene could be banned. Awful awful awful product.

I am a fully qualified hairdresser an I agree with misslatham!! I too have had extensions and used Pantene and had no problems so I would take the extensions out an send to them back to your supplier. There are too many well know big branded companies initially selling quality products then when they know they have your custom supplying you with cheaper versions of the product at the same price!! As for this forum just being for hairdressers, I thought hair & beauty professionals were all allowed to share their experiences in order to help others weather they are correct or not!!

Please forgive my obvious ignorance, but I'm interested to learn in precisely what way it is helpful for a non-hairdressing pro to post incorrect advice?

Scissorz im glad you were not offended...or confused! :) xx

The hair geek forum is for professional hairdressers to discuss professional hair issues. I believe the consumer forum is where cruddy products can be discussed with impunity.

All pro hairdressers are aware of the problem pantene causes, from silicon coating, dehydrating the hair, intensified heat damage, and patchy colour results. Its why we dont stock or sell it in our salons.

As for the OP, bad batches of hair can occur. My guess is she cannot afford to pay the remainder, so is complaining now to avoid paying you the balance.

That was her experience/opinion from using a product not advice, if these forums on salon geek were not for all professionals then non hairdressers would not be able to access the hair forums. I actually agree that Pantene isn't good for the hair I only happened to use it as I was staying with a friend who used it an that was all that I had available at the time, however as I said I didn't experience any problems when using it on my extensions.

I can't believe a hairdresser would stay with a friend and not take their own shampoo's. I take my own dryer and flat irons everywhere as well as product as I can't trust my friends to have high enough quality there.

My bug beat is my aunt who uses head and shoulders and complains it fades her colour xoxo

I too usual would take my own stuff with me, but it was due to unforeseen circumstances why I ended up staying, I have far more other things going on in my life than to worry about what shampoo I use. :)

Wash it in work? I have a lot more than hair in my life too, but it's not much an excuse. It's like me having 6" roots and saying I can't do them because my uncle is ill and I'm a main carer. Xoxo

Sweet Jesus. A hair "pro" defending something as vile as Pantene?!?
Shocking.
