The bulbs on my lamp still have 64 hours left and have tested them in the other side of the lamp and are fine.

Not sure what the problem is but the right hand side of the lamp will not work at all, the other side is fine?

Could it be a fuse? My hubby is trying to take it apart just now. When my last client had her hand in there was a flash as if the bulbs had gone but they are fine?

Any help would be appreciated

hey honey

no advice other than to say contact who you bought it from. As you're in Scotland assume it's fingertips centre.

Good luck don't panic :) x x x

I had this and it was not the bulbs as they were fine when i swapped them over, i contacted S2 where i bought it from and they sent me a new one out, i then sent the old one back, I would not advise taking it to bits as that could invalidate the warranty!!!!

Thanks for your replies, I have ordered a new one.
I have had it over a year so warranty is not valid unfortunately.
I would like to see if I can get it repaired somewhere though and keep it as a spare. Just no idea where to take it! I asked my suppliers (fingertips, edinburgh) and they dont offer repairs.

Maybe any electrical repair person? Sorry no help really but if you could find someone who fixes general electrical goods maybe they could look at it? Thats a shame your warrenty was past.

Has anyone had any problems with bulbs not working in one side and the attachment at back that lead goes in falling into machine?

I've not had any problems with any of my lamps thank goodness, but if you do then return it and have it replaced. Obviously the lead should not fall into the lamp so send it back and replace it. I have heard of that happening before and it is a nuisance, but a small percentage of all electrical goods can be faulty. S2 will replace it immediately for you. This is something you should speak to them about asap. It really doesn't matter if anyone else has had the same problem .. you are having it so speak to S2 08452106060.

As my original post mentioned I did have the problem of only half the lamp working, i.e. 2 bulbs. As it was just out of warranty I had to buy another one.
I would still like to have the old one repaired to keep as a spare. Has anyone ever had their lamp repaired anywhere?

I know from past posts that if you take the lamp to an electrical shop that they have replaced a part that has fixed a problem .. dont ask me which part but it has been done.

Oh no that's rubbish, I have 2 cnd lamps one as a back up lamp but not had any problems as yet. I hope the new one is ok x

No I haven't got round to taking it somewhere yet. I am worried it could be a special fitting that is needed so not sure who could fix it?

If your lamp is under warranty then it will be replaced ... End of story. You do not, and indeed should not have it fixed nor tamper with it or that will cancel you warranty. Take it/send it back and exchange it. It should be done immediately. Meanwhile do not tamper with the lamp.

Literally 100's of thousands of these lamps have been made and sold ... Some are bound to be faulty just as with anything else. Return it and exchange it.

Do you have any advice on where to take a lamp that is out of warranty for repair? My first lamp broke just after the 12 mths and therefore after calling fingertips Edinburgh I was advised nothing could be done and they said they did not offer a repair service. My sed lamp has been working well for about 2 years. My first lamp may have been "faulty" but I have been unable to get a replacement as it was just over the 12 months.

Typing error, "sed" lamp should read "second" lamp

I would take it to an electrician that does repairs and see if they can get the part. I have never had to do it but I have heard that people have had it done successfully.

My hubby fixed mine it was a tiny piece that had to be replaced on the motherboard thing ... the bit cost 36p in maplins ! X

Can I ask did your lamp have the exact same problem with only 2 bulbs working?
Am just back from speaking to a repair shop. The guy said he knows nothing about nail lamps and wasnt prepared to even try fixing it. I also called my supplier and was told that if it is outwith the 12 months there is nothing that can be done, it should just be binned!
I hate our "throw away" society, especially when these lamps are so expensive to replace.
Dont suppose your hubby would take on another wee repair? :wink2:
