Hi again! :)

A lady has asked me to attend and fit feather extensions at a 12 year olds party... I don't know whether I should do it.

The party is basically a pamper party she's having a woman go round doing little mani and pedi's etc etc, and wants them all to have feather extensions. I've done micro ring extensions on a 15 yr old for proms etc and always got there parents consent etc.

I contacted my insurance and they said I'm covered as long as their parents give consent...

I've done them in my nieces before but it's not family now! Plus what they gonna do after they've had it in they'll need to come back to me to get it removed - too much hassle for a parent - should I build this into the price I know it's not much for a couple of feathers! Lol :) has anyone done this before I know I've read some people have done it at school fates etc.. How did you do it?? How much did you charge? I'm a bit lost tbh.

Thanks in advance! Xx

Go for it! This is something lots of people are doing now especially around London, charge about £5 per feather extension and removal shoould really be free as it wont take long. Theres not much profit on this service unless you have lots of kids requesting it around your area.Head to a school fete or festival. Also advisable to use the micro ring feather, easier to manage for a child! xx

I was thinking around £5, bit of hassle about for the parent to come to me to remove a feather? Lol. Have anyone got any reviews on how this has gone if they have done it before? I'm not fussed about making money tbh, it's a wee bit of advertisement if they go home with little feathers in there hair to their mums ;-) lol! They only thing that bothered me is being covered for insurance purposes! What age limit would you have? Thanks for your response xxx

Could you fix a couple of feather to a kirby grip instead? Iknow its not as 'grown up' but they'll have something to take home with them?

I don't know, I've emailed the mother and she's happy with micro rings and spoken to her daughters friends presents who are okay with it. I've emailed her a disclaimer form to get all the parents to sign. I'm in the process of making my website my self (hard task! Lol!) and thought about adding a section for 'feather parties' I like the idea personally and no one offers this in my area... I thought of an age restriction of around 10 for micro rings with parental consent... Anything less or no consent to make them on extension clips... I'm thinking of buying bulk loose feathers, synthetic feathers and beads so they can personalise their own hair feathers :) to add a bit of fun to it all... I'm thinking of attaching the loose feathers to a bit of coloured cord with a micro ring add a couple of beads and at the top loop this to the micro ring or clip to attach to their hair... Thought it adds a bit of fun for them to design their own ill attach the feathers to the cord and to the micro ring and they can add the beads? Any more creative ideas? I think for this about £5 each and if they want a couple in each person alter the price a little... Any more ideas? Then send them home with a little aftercare sheet for the mum to read and a business card for my contact details for them to be removed? Xxx

I think it sounds brilliant

Health and Safety Allergy Test: Important if you are using Real Bird Feathers make sure that the child is not allergic to Parrots or any type of Budgie or Bird or they may have an allergic reaction like an asthma attack.

If you are using synthetic hair you still are supposed to do an Allergy Test for the Micro Rings (if you are attaching them this way) as the client may be allergic to certain alloys (metals) and could have a rash appear on the scalp.

Maybe go for synthetic & try shrinkies if you get them tight enough to grip?, they should just slide out with some conditioner??

good idea about shrinkies BUT these need an allergy test too, because the client may have an allergic reaction to the resin in the stick tip of the synthetic feather hair (grizzly feathers have a stick tip at the top), and you should allergy test the shrinkie too. Same Health & Safety rules apply.

This idea is fab, can I ask where you buy your feathers?
