heres a good one. and real cheap..

slices of potatoe layered, with onion and mushroom (if you have it) and any meat you have (cooked first). Pour over milk and bake.. serve with backed beans or veg.. cheap and very filling..

I'm the other way as I'm in debt! I'm having a quiet year and just concentrating on paying everything off. I'll be miserable for the time being but I'll feel better in the long run. I'm just glad in a way I have learnt my lesson early on now and not to get myself in this mess in the future.

I understand what it is like to not be in debt and not have dosh to pay the bills though, there is light at the end of the tunnel, just take it easy and don't panic. Do all the things you can to save as much money as poss, it might mean a quiet summer and things whilst you get yourself back on your feet but as long as you are spending time with eachother you will still have a good one. Everything works out in the end but staying calm is important, x x x

i have to agree these people sound a bit of trouble makers if you ask me..did you get a detailed inventory when you moved in?? not just about pots and pans but about the condition of the house!! when we rented our house they did a great indepth inventory.. stating every mark on the wall and floors.. colours of the rooms, carpets and curtains, cleaness of the house. even what plants were in the garden:rolleyes:

Dont worry I know a way to make him pay once we have moved. I wouldn't do anything while I am still here.

There was an inventory when we moved in, down to the number of mirrored tiles in the bathroom and the fact that one of the fireplace tiles was cracked.

I did alter it to state that the kitchen was in poor condition instead of the fair condition that they stated.

just a little someting that may help..... your landlord cannot evict you because you complain about things that need fixing. You both have a contract with each other and as long as you keep to yours then you have more rights than he does. It is not easy to evict tennents (boyfriend has 3 houses rented out) even when they do not pay thier rent. Please dont be worried by the fact that he says he will evict you because he cant!! To do it legally takes a very long time. If he is registered landlord then you can complain to the landlords association about him and he still cant evict you as long as you keep paying rent and dont do any damage to the property. I know this dosnt help your financial situation but maybe it will take away the worry of what he keeps saying because he is wrong. I wish you all the luck in the world hun xxxxxxx

The landlord was going to issue our two months notice to leave the property. Surely he can do this as it is in the contract that either party can terminate the lease by giving two months notice.

With regards to grocery shopping.

Rule no#1 NEVER EVER shop without a VERY full belly. If your full, from a meal finished only moments before, you're less likely to impulse buy.

rule no#2 ONLY BUY ON SALE.
Now, this rule does get broken. Sometimes, that certain something is NEEDED (ex: dishsoap) and it's not on sale.
BUT most of the time, THIS PLAN WORKS and saves you heaps.

Every week, my hubby and I look at the flyers.
We only buy what's on sale. We shop at 3 stores.
If the hamburger is on sale, we buy more than we need, say 3 or pkg's instead of 1? Then the next week if it's not on sale, no big deal, we have some in the freezer. This is how we buy most things.
If toothpaste is on sale, grab 4 or 5 tubes........ etc...
If we have plenty to last a few weeks, even if it's on sale, we don't buy it. No need stocking up for a war or calamity LOL

Now, the next trick: planning your meals around the sales.
Yup, plan your meals for the week, get out the cookbook and only cook what you can get on sale.
If it's not on sale, choose something else.
NOW sometimes, this might mean that you eat hamburger (ground meat) 3 times in one week. BUT get out the cookbook..and you'll find different ways to make it. Try something new for a change.

COUPONS: use coupons, but use them wisely. If you have a coupon that's good for 6mths or whatever, don't use it until that item is on sale. You're thinking "what difference is it? a buck is a buck, or 50c is 50c"
WRONG. The tax on that item at a higher price will be higher than the tax on that same item at a lower price.
THERE'S the difference :green: , in the taxes that you'll pay. You'll save more by using your coupons wisely.
AND check... some coupons really aren't worth it. If the item for which you have a coupon is pricier than the no-name brand, ditch it. But you know that already.

Try more no-name brands.. you'll be surprised sometimes.

I wish you the best the of luck and hope it all gets resolved soon.

For your bunny, put up notice at the different Veterinarians. If someone THERE sees it, they are more likely to be a conscientious pet owner than some joe-blow off the street.

Hope this helps

No he can't hun. Katapilla is correct as you have things in the property which need fixing and sorting and he has a legal obligation to attend to it! I think he is trying scare tactics with you. Many people do think the landlord has all the rights, but believe me they don't. The tenant is extremely well protected and there are many loopholes which allow you to legally remain on the property.

Actually, if he is not attending to problems about the property which you have bought to his attention, then you don't have to pay your rent until those probs are fixed. A visit to CAB is definitley needed.

yep hun the CAB is deffo the way to go regarding your finances and your landlord, the people who work there are the most amzing people and bend over backwards to help you out. Again as for your landlord he is breaking his side of the contract so therefore really has no grounds to throw you out, you really do have 1 million more rights than he does.

I'm sorry that there was nothing of any use on Shelters website .. sounds like you've got one of those landlords that knows his way around the system and knows how to exploit everything he can. I hope you get it sorted (or at least get satisfactory revenge when you leave  lol)
xx

Oh i think I can certainly make him suffer a little once we leave. I am female lol, there is always a way.

We think we have sorted out how to pay the rent and hubby's parents (who we have a loan from) have said we can have a few months off paying them to help get us sorted.

Feel a bit better but once the rent is payed I will feel much better.

hubby has to go to the bank today to try and get his overdraft increased and sort out the bank charges, he spent an hour on the phone to a guy at barclays last night who was very helpful and seemed to think that they would credit them back as it's the first time in 20+ years that this has happened on his account. Fingers crossed cos it's £120. Plue he got to phone our old insurance company to get the money back that they took from his account after he cancelled the policy with them, thats another £140+.

Keep the cheap meal ideas coming, gonna need some inspiration, it's ok for a few days eating mince but after a while it become boring lol.

Thanks for all your help.

Rachel
