I've seen comments about washing hair before reapplying prebonded to get rid of removal residue... I'm not a hairdresser I know how to wash and dry though so can I still wash and dry a clients hair? Sorry if a stupid question! X

Lol okay I was just wondering cus I'm not a hairdresser but I tell my clients I am purely for extensions so they'll understand or maybe just use a water spray bottle and dry the strands only x

I would definitely wash the hair to be on the safe side x

Okay I'm quite shocked I wasn't told that this is a good idea and that most technicians would do this when fitting prebonded as I trained with lush us but then again I'm not a hair dresser.. Hm..

Thank you for the advice I think it looks a lot more professional and if it will look after a clients hair better than that's a good thing :)

Thanks xx

I think you should check if you are allowed to carry this service out. It's easy thinking how easy it is to wash and dry hair but them 2 things are 2 separate modules in the nvq.

When drying someone's hair you need to make sure you can keep it smooth and not burn it.

Like i say just phone your insurance and check because hairdressers do need to be assessed numerous times for each one to get certified.

Out of interest when you find out will you tell us the answer i never thought of that.

Yeah I was going to say something similar to Donna. In the NVQlevel 2 you get passed on your washing. & blow drying so you are qualified in it. I know it's only washing hair BUT if anything were to go wrong (client being allergic to shampoo, buring them on accident with water etc..) you might find that you will notbe covered by your insurance . I'd check with them first. I always get my clients to wash their hair before they come to me & for re-fits the client would most likely want their roots done so I will refit the day after etc.. Hth Amy xx

Oh in see what you are saying yea they don't recommend putting
Hair
Extensions bak
In the same day as removal anyway unless it's micro rings so you could just get the clients to wash it themselves x

You can put them back in the same day if the cilent isnt having any chemical treatments done as colouring will affect the cuticle & if you put the extensions in starightafter they are more likely to come out as the cuticle will be too smooth & soft to hold them properly. I always advise to wash hair shampoo only, but if needs be- conditioner only on the ends! Most people would have their roots done tho :) i know i would! Black hair & blonde roots :/ not a good look! Aha xx

That what I was think :S bit confusing. I didn't this I would be a loud I did write to lush us and they said to wash the hair I dont know whether I emphasised the fact I wasn't a hair dresser though. I will ask my insurers and I'll get back to you all as well. I am thinking of a hair dressing course now anyway, wish I did it when I was at college... Big mistake lol x

Hiya did you find out? X

I don't see anything wrong with getting your client to wash and dry their own hair in between removal and refitting if you are not qualified and your insurance doesn't cover you, as long as they use the correct clarifying shampoo... you can use this time to set up ready for application if needed... bonus and time saving on both behalves! lol

The hair does not NEED to be blow dried, just rough dried... thoroughly!

HTH x

Ive just trained and in my area a woman is charging £99 for a full head of remy hair 18 inch micro rings and £120 for a fuller head and £140 for a full head of 22 inch. Now how can i compete with that i don't know how she can charge that and make a profit as i cant get the hair for that so where does she get the hair from? any ideas how she can do it and make a profit ???

Hiya I had this problem with a client too saying well so and so could do it for 160- I kinda just think now well let them bloody do it for you then ! To be honest I don't know how she is making anything unless she makes really small profit but does lots and lots of exts? When I buy my hair include aftercare and it comes to about 106 roughly (and that's not even for 18 inch its 16 inch) so the very very minimum I would do it for is 170 but normally 200-230 maybe she buys really cheap hair or uses hardly any? If she bought 4 packs from lush us it would come to about 40 quid and that's 100 strands so she could make 60? But that wouldnt look grey as its not enough hair! And she doesn't offer aftercare. Can I ask is she a hairdresser so does she offer other services? X

*wouldnt look great
