Hi i'm just about to enter the world of spray tanning and I have found a kit that ticks all the boxes for me, the only thing I am confused about is the machine is it any good? Its the HVLP Maxi Mist Machine.

Could one of you tanning pro's advise me before I make an expensive mistake

Thanks xx

im in the process of buying a machine, and really dont know wot one to buy or where from..perhaps u can recommend. i was gonna buy the maxi mist, wot do u think?????

i have uploaded pics of both maximist machines on my personal profile page just click on my name (steve@nouvatan) and go to my pictures the bigger machine is the 5008 and cost around £70 pounds dearer but is a much better machine the smaller round machine is the maximist lite, this is the machine there is a great deal of confusion about, its ok for home use and a couple of tans but any more and it tends to cut out, it is not suitable for spray tan parties , they are both called MAXIMIST hth

This isn't anything to do with the machine you guys are discussing, but it's reminded me of something i heard from a fellow student at college.

Apparently one of the tutors (who mainly teaches 2nd & 3rd year) told the girls in my class they should just buy a regular spraying machine from B&Q (like the one you use to spray sheds/fences etc..) to use for spray tanning as it was cheaper & that's what the college used!

I wasn't in the class at the time & i was outraged when i was told what she said. Totally unprofessional & makes me question her credibility as a tutor/therapist...

so many different companies to buy from, who is the best, reliable, good customer service etc etc.. im gonna buy the maxi mist 5008. thanks for ur help steve

this does not suprise me in the least EBAY is full of fence sprayers being sold as spraytan machines they will work but very badly as they have huge needles and run at a higher pressure you may get 5 badly applied tans from a litre opposed to 20+ from a spray tan machine

i bought my HVLP 5008 model from sienna x last year, perfectly good machine to use

yes i totally agree with you on this the other machine from sienna is the t200 and in my opinion its not a patch on the 5008
And the 5008 is cheaper!! but so much more reliable, we stopped stocking the t200 as we were having 25% returned with burned out motors miss spraying bent needles ect
we have sold 100s of 5008s over the last 18 months and i have had one turbine returned and a couple of guns :D:D i love it !! hence why i started this thread as the maximist lite is nt as robust and people need to know the difference

LA Tanning are offering a FREE 5008 spray tan machine if you buy 4 Litres of solution.... Would this be the real machine or a bit of a con?

Hi Sarah,
if they are advertising the offer that the machine is a maximist HV5008 machine then its fine....just remember that nothing in life is free though

There have been some very useful posts regarding the MaxiMist range of Spray Tan machines; I’d just like add a few words

MaxiMist Lite

This is an entry level unit designed for home/mobile use. As long as you understand its limitations you will not be disappointed. It’s a small, compact unit designed to be portable and easy to store away. Because of its size the unit is not recommended for coping with the demands of a busy commercial environment. However, for home/mobile use it is entirely appropriate. Just don’t expect to be able to do tan parties without leaving the unit to cool down after few tans. For a machine that retails for less than £100 it represents remarkable value for money. There are only a handful of selective companies who have been chosen to retail this product so you may have to shop around

MaxiMist Plus (Manufacturers product code - HV008)

This unit is manufactured in the UK by the same company, built to the same exacting standards. It’s a real work horse; the motor is larger than its little brother and better suited for a commercial environment. The unit whilst robust is still compact enough to be used as a mobile spray unit.

MaxiMist Pro

Again, there are only a handful of selective companies who have been chosen to retail this particular product. This package is the same as the above but with the inclusion of Pro Gun made from aircraft grade aluminium. The gun is so reliable some retailers even offer a lifetime guarantee!

MaxiMist Ultra

This is the new daddy on the block! Not available in the UK just yet but keep an eye out for this one.

Hi Suntana,

After much internet searching I finally ordered a Maxi Mist Pro machine with the upgraded gun...From The Spray Tan Shop who have just sent me an email saying they will refund me now as there are none in stock!!
Not pleased as my Busy Bronzer has packed in on me - Yet again.

Just out of interest Is the Maxi Mist Ultra for salon and mobile use or???
When do you think it will be available in the UK?

Thanks

Hi Collin,

hiya, well im one of the ones that got succered in, i bought a hplv 700.... i did 2 tans and burn out! new 700 from same company 1.5 tans as i put the heat setting on! bad move. the company swapped it as i had a dance troup to do, he gave me the pig model. to tide me over , as didnt have a 700 , they have now ceased trading !!!! this did 2 tans and ide turn it off.. not good again i got help from nouvatan who actually to my surprise were very good, not just a retailer but they cared , and followed my moves to check all was ok ... Thanx Steve Thanx Dawn... life saver , i was ready to give up tanning but also my clients love the solution.. i get recomends all the time x luck and hugs.

same question has popped up again lately about the difference in maximist machines so i am bumping this up again its a totally non self promoting thread that contains very important information to stop people being scammed on ebay or by google adds
and its my opinion that the pro gun is an overpriced over engineered gimmick, the 5008 has a standard gun that is fantastic it runs at the same PSI and has the same nozzle apperture hence same spray pattern as the pro gun
You dont need aircraft grade aluminium on a system that runs at 1.7 psi
spend the money you save on solution or training !!
