hi girls.
just wondering what nail polish you use that doesnt chip.
Iv tried attitude but i think its rubbish...it lasts on toes but thats it.

Heard Opi is meant to be good, does any1 use this?

Thanks xxx

Shellac!

Seriously, since I started using Shellac in May I've used my regular CND enamels only 3 times!

Are you asking about polish for use on natural nails or are you doing mainly enhancements or both. For natural nails and toes I use Shellac from CND almost exclusively now. For enhancements, CND Colour & Effects.

Regarding natural nails, it is how you prepare the nail and how you actually paint the nail that makes the most difference to polish chipping. How do you prepare yours? It is also important to use a good professional brand of polish as they are more highly pigmented. Then it is important to paint thin layers (and with a good pro polish, that should have all the coverage you need).

Most polishes will last well on enhancements ... after all you are polishing plastic.

There are many good professional brands of polish to choose from. Brands with a reputation. Reputation is not gained for no reason. Of course OPI is a good pro brand along with CND and so many others. Stuff you can buy from the likes of Sallys are not normally high quality unless they are selling a pro brand that you know has the rep.

i use cnd and misa from nsi and always use a top coat

i prefer OPI. i used CND polish and shellac in school only, that's a great brand. i haven't tried anything else as far as professional polish is concerned.

I love Shellac on natural nails (not strictly polish but has kind of replaced it for me) but otherwise use CND colours and effects. I find them brilliant, the brush is great and the coverage and it doesnt chip easily. I have a few OPI colours too as I love the colour range but the coverage isnt as good (on the few I have, maybe not all?) and Im not keen on the brush, but a lot of peeps on here love them.

I fancy trying the Mac polishes but I dont know how good they are in a professional sense as I havent tried them yet and also Orly/Essie might be worth a try to see what you like x

I would also advise before investing in many nail polishes that I would serious ly consider one of the new gel polishes. Shellac, Gelish, GELeration etc. Since beginning to use Gelish earlier this year I have only used my polishes twice.

To answer you original question I have used OPI polishes for years and find them to be everything I look for in a polish. There are other good brands out there, CND, Jessica, Spa Ritual to name but a few. :green:

My one comment re shedonlop's post is that if you are going to go right over to polish/gels, it is an investment and ups the price of your service by at least 3.00 per service against pence in comparison for polish (even good ones). That is why I asked the OP if she was considering her polish line for enhancements or for natural nails.

So if you are going to go for UV cured products then make sure you add the extra cost of using them (if just used for colour on top of enhancements particularly .. which frankly is not necessary as polish dries very quickly, lasts ages and the extra cost of UV cured is not worth it in my humble opinion). I certainly still use both and only use Shellac on enhanced nails if the clients are willing to shell out an extra 10.00 for me to do it.

We use Spa Ritual and the odd OPI and don't seem to have any problems.

I love opi, also use jessica and china glaze! how long polish lasts is part due to polish and a lot to do with paining.x

I will only be painting it on natural nails.

Does anyone know any websites i can get these gel polishes from?

Another vote for Shellac. Since using Shellac in May I havent done one single "normal" manicure (with nail varnish) they have all been shellac manicures - truly amazing product, one of its kind, god send! x
What products/ nail varnishes do you mainly use on your clients at the moment? x
