Hi,
I had my nails done, sculptured gel nails, in February 2012 however I thought they used acrylics, not gel. As it was a powder. Don't no if that's right? It also looks like there is still a thin layer of gel on my nail and on the odd few nails there is like a semi circle the same shape of the bottom of the finger nail. Almost as if it's the gel growing out really slowly. I was just wondering if anyone knows how I could get rid of the thin layer of gel on my nails without messing my nails up really bad. Thanks to any replies x

It sounds like you still have glue present. The half moon shape is where ur nail has grown and it's fesh nail, acrylics don't allow your nails to breath so would have been undercover for a long time, this is why I think u can see this, I would use a low grit file to buff slightly xxx

If its a very thin layer of gel I would just let it grow out. It would be better for your nails than trying to file it off and going too far. Eek
But nails don't breathe :) sorry

Nails don't breathe. It's made of non-living keratin. That's why it doesn't hurt to clip our nails. There are people who continuously have on overlays and enhancements for years with no problems :)

To the OP, I'm having trouble trying to understand what you're asking. By "bottom of the nail" are you referring to the cuticle area? Do you still have the enhancements on, or have they been removed?

Yes I'm referring to the cuticle end of the nail no I have then removed in February after week after having them put on.

It would probably be best to just leave it as Vicki said. If you try buffing or filing it off, you might end up taking off more than you wanted, and risk thinning out/damaging your nail. If they were applied back in February, I would imagine the cuticle area from then has since grown out to about the middle of your nail? won't be long til they reach your free edge and you can just clip it off :)
