hi everyone, new here!
I have recently "done up" a very unloved outbuilding/summer house in my garden which I now want to turn into a salon.

I am employed at the moment and have just handed my notice in to go self employed. My partner is saying that just going "self employed as a sole trader" will be adequate enough but if I am working from home I am worried I will get in trouble for not registering properly. I'm not too sure how to go about it.
Do I have to register as a "business from home" and pay business rates? How much are business rates on top of council tax?
It is in my garden with private parking and is not a nuisance to any neighbours.
I have 2 small children so at the moment I am working.. well.. not a lot!
Could you please tell me thoughts?
