is it just me or can anyone elae NOT stand being called hun!! it seems to be the in thing at the moment i cant bare it its horrible as is babe!!why not just call the person by there name my friends do it to winde me up now and it works!!!!:irked:

Yes! Its something we use down here all the time. If your friends with someone they are a mate.
I only use hun since picking it up on here, before than that the only person I used to call hun was hubby. Most of the time he is babe or *******, idiot and a few other choice words that could get me banned:lol:

I had a male client on the phone today calling me hun. I don't mind it from women but from a man ( and he's a very manly man, iykwim) I find it a bit . Just my opinion! Mind you, it did make me laugh cus I'd just read this thread.

this thread has made me think a bit lol, I think on the outside world I use mate more than anything...
When someone calls me or I see someone in the street....
I'm like "helloooooooo me little mate" or "alright mate how yer doing " lol

I think I use hun when I feel less familiar with the person....(outside of geek...its pure habit on here and msn and anywhere else online, although I don't use it to new clients weird hey)
I know I picked it up when working in the shop...
All day everyday, "yes hun, can I help you" "no hun we don't stock that"
"I will check with the boss for you hun" " I am sorry hun, your card has been declined " :green:

(Lol is my annoying thing...omg I use it toooo much way to much, so0 much That I sometimes go back and delete some of them hahaha)

Because I just thought...I said that I use it if I feel less familiar with someone, but thats not true, coz I call my best mates it, and my little sis and my kids lmao...

quickly before I hit the sack... I do find it endearing from those I know - Jeni, Emma I promise I have never been offended and wouldn't be now... I think it's purley because you tend to see a LOT... and it just grates a little (well to a few of us)... but no need to change a habit of life time OK!!

I am me, hun and hunni have been a part of my vocabulary for the last 24 years or so, long before I ever saw the internet, even if I try to stop saying it or typing it it would take me years to get out of the habit. I got a text from my aunty who started it all the other day and she said it even then :lol:

My best friend who I have know since I was five just recently started calling me hun and babe, I can't stand it coming from her! When I first heard it, I just gave her this weird look. she is one year younger than me, maybe that is why, i don't know, but I just find it annoying. :smack:
However online it is different for me, it sounds friendly
