Hi
Just after some advice. I am looking to book a few training courses and was wondering how much I can trust the approved centres on the guild website?
I found a training provider nearby that seemed ideal but after a quick search I found a lot of negative comments and reviews, which has put me off a bit.
Does anyone have any advice on finding a good training provider please?

It's really hit and miss, Google is your best resource for reviews and here. It sounds simple but if you post here something like has anyone trained with 'XYZ Acadamy' and you get no reply you can pretty much guarantee no-one has even heard of them let alone trained there. I have no idea how many members there are now on Salon Geek, last I knew a few years back it was around the 5000 mark, no most don't visit every day but the majority that are here regularly are happy to share info, good and bad, so you should get a fair review.

If you have any doubts or concerns then don't book it. Good training will be expensive, this is your career and business, so it needs investing in. Good training is never where you want it to be, be prepared to travel, but it will be worth it. Good training will have a huge following and people raving about it everywhere.

Great advice.

I would add that because someone has a course accredited it doesn't mean it's good. There are some shockingly bad trainers out there - I've heard stories of the trainer oversleeping and doing the training in her dressing gown with cats wandering around. Do ask around and ask for recommendations.
