i know theres been like a million threads on this already but i dont have time to search through them all lol...

Basically i did a girl last friday (a week ago) and she was happy with the nails at the time. She just text me today to say that 3 have fallen off and the rest are lifting badly and she wants her money back. so i just said that i would replace the broken ones and file down the lifting on the others or that i would remove them all. But no refund. but now shes said that she only got them done for her holiday and she doesnt want to have to pay out again!

But the problem is is that i do believe that they just fell off and that they've all lifted because all of my nails seem to lift..
i do the PREP properly but i think where im going wrong is that when i buff down the tip (i use the cnd performance ones) i cant seem to get rid of all of the dust from the sides of the nails. so i think this is whats causing the lifting.

Also... (sorry about the longness of the post) how would i remove the nails? theyre brisa gel so theyre obviously buff off but surely ive got to leave a layer of gel on the nail? if so how would i explain this to her because she'll obviously want to get them redone!

i dont really know what to say to her...

so sorry for the long post :(

Thanks

I don't think the small amount of dust at the sides of the nails are going to cause a nail to "pop". But in the future, maybe try using a nail brush or a medium soft toothbrush to scrub off the dust before you dehydrate and cleanse the nail plate.
I would still insist on seeing the nails and offering a removal--not money back. She already admitted she just wanted them for a special occasion--she should have gotten weekend nails--not gels.
Buff them down to as thin a layer of gel as you can and manicure them and then give her a coat of Rejuvicote or NailTek II with instructions for bi-weekly manicures until all the gel grows out. You could go all the way down to the nail, but that carries an inherant risk that I wouldn't take if you are not comfortable with it.

I have been using Brisa for 2 years now and I have never had any lifting at all. I have even had clients go 12 weeks between rebalances with no service breakdown in any way shape or form.
I dont really understand what you mean when you say you have trouble removing the dust when you file down the tip. Are you not using a brush to remove the dust?
It sounds to me that either the clients isn't compatible with gel there are those rare clients who gel will not stick too or else its a prep issue.
Could you run through your prep with us so that we could see if you are doing anything wrong?
Are you removing the cuticle away with soapy water before dehydrating with scrub fresh?
Also maybe if your nails always lift I would consider ringing up your CND educator and booking a 1-2-1 if you are having these issues with lifting.
Tell us your prep and what lamp you are using and we can see if we can help.

Get her in to see them free of charge. Then look closely on the nails that "popped" of, put scrubfresh on them and if there are white marks, the nails didn't fell off. I honestly don't believe they did.

I have to ask you, are you charging a reduced price if you say your nails always lift??? I think if the nails lift badly then she has the right to be a bit, hmmm, not so happy, as nails shouldn't lift or at least it shouldn't be a common problem. As far as I can see you are still training with the brisa gel?? And as a student lifting is to be expected, but then you should be charging less and telling why.

You say you do your prep properly, but then the nails wouldn't lift. The dust in the sidewalls (that you should either remove with scrubfresh or a brush) would only cause lifting in the sidewalls (of course with pressure added the lifting could spread), not to make the whole nail come off, unless she used force to remove it. (by the way, if it is performance tips, you don't need to blend)

I think there are a few things here to be adressed. First you need to sort out the lifting problems otherwise you will always doubt yourself:hug: But remember this particularly client only wanted them as holiday treatments, well I bet she didn't follow aftercare LOL, and might have removed one or two herself.

If you do as I suggested in the beginning of my post, then if there are signs of damage don't redo free of charge, stick to what you said you will sort out the lifted ones she will pay for the lost ones (if she picked them off) and under no circumstances will you do a refund.

Good luck and don't let clients walk over you:green:

If you think that it is you and that they did come off and have all lifted then IMO you should refund her money. If i paid out for something that didn't do what it should have through no fault of my own then i would expect a refund.

You need to rectify the problems you are having with lifting before charging full price on clients..and you need to be clear with them that you are using them for perfecting your skills....otherwise people will feel kinda duped.

Ask her to come in...take a look and if it is you then refund her money and at least you will manage to keep a good reputation for being fair and honest. x

Hmm. Yep think I need to go back to the drawing board lol.
I trained back in march but probably don't do as many as I should do lol. I did my mum for a while and hers were fine. But couldn't go longer than 2 weeks.
Whenever I do nno I don't have any problems. So I think the main problem is with my dust problem. I don't buff the tips properly but I thought you had to remove the shine?
The prep I do is:
Shape the nail, remove cuticle with cuticle away, use soap and water to remove cuticle away. Scrub fresh, remove surface shine and tip.. Then the dust settles in. I use the special cnd brush to

** i use the brush to get rid of the dust but it just sticks to the corners.
I do use the Brisa lamp an I do all of the steps so maybe I just need to spend some time looking at videos and just take time over my nails.
When I do them they look amazing they just don't stay on lol.

Soooo frustrating lol x x

Don't you scrubfresh after removing shine (not before)??? If it is the new performance tips the shine should have already been removed...

If I were you I would try to double prep, do you use a chisel or something to thoroughly remove cuticle??? I am prep anal myself, so my clients almost never lifts, I have a few that does after three or four weeks, but those are the ones that don't quite follow aftercare, and a few with very difficult nailshapes...
