I am such an idiot. I have just been to a new clients house to remove her Shellac (which I didn't originally do) and apply some new Shellac.

I wrapped her nails in foil to remove the shellac with what I thought was Acetone. When I removed the foils a good 10 minutes later the Shellac hadn't budged at all, wasn't flaky at all. At first, I just assumed it wasn't Shellac so proceeded to file the Shellac off. The client also said the Shellac bottle was white, so I knew it wasn't Shellac (perhaps it was Gelish) After filing away for a couple of minutes I double checked the bottle I had used and realised I had used D-sperse by mistake.:cry::cry::o:cry:

For some reason I just panicked and I didn't say anything to the client just carried on filing away. I should have just owned up to my mistake, but I didn't. The client now things the salon she went to - which was in the US - a reputable salon she thought, are now some sort of dodgy salon using inferior products when in fact it is all my mistake.

I did her Shellac and she seems happy but when I removed the sticky layer, with D-Sperse , she asked me what it was? She hadn't asked me about Scrubfresh or anything else I had used, just that, so now I am paranoid thinking that she knows I made a mistake.

She was a new client, so I guess I was a little nervous but I wished that I was honest with her. Do you think I should call her tomorrow and admit my error or should I just leave it and put it down to experience. I am so gutted, she was such a lovely client as well. I don't want her to think I am dishonest.

For goodness sake ... Just leave it alone. You don't need to ring her and you don't need to say anything. She will not even be thinking about it.

Aaw hun! At least u won't make that mistake again! I once realised I'd not scrub freshed my boyf's auntie & didn't own up & felt awful afterwards!

I bet your client didn't realise herself but I think just in case if she did, it would look bad if you didn't later own up. Besides in my opinion if you don't own up the guilt will be horrible! I'm sure she'd understand if you just rang & explained. Imagine if she went back to that salon to have a go at them for using dodgy products, you can't take that risk. Hope you're ok and let us know how it works out. Hug! xxxx

I had a client that came to me with extensions by mistake I wrapped them in nail polish remover. Two hours later still not removed. Filed did nails she was very happy. It wasn't till that night I realised what I had done. Never told her and now she is one of my best customers with lovely shellaced nail no enhancements. She's happy and so am I lol xxx

I forgot to use step 2 Gelicure on a client and felt bad, didn't know whether to ring her but didn't want to seem unprofessional so didn't. It was fine, lasted same as usual. Don't worry about it, u won't do it again! X

No I def won't do it again. I sometimes think that the only way you truly learn is to learn from your mistakes. Thanks geeks for your support.

Well it could have been worse.:) The other week I nearly removed one of my clients eye make-up with surgical spirit!!! :Scared::eek:

I felt terrible one time, because somehow I managed to **** regarding my pricing on a set of nails I did. I almost contacted her to give her the £5 back but thought better of it... Turns out she liked the nails, she had the same done the next time, consequently I asked for the same price as the first time... Mwahhh ... Clearly she didnt think I'd asked too much & she came back... Bonus ... lol

Making a mistake sure makes you remember, but as a way to LEARN ... It sucks.

If other professions only learned through their mistakes, as with Doctors, we would not be so quick to laugh about it!

D.Sperse smells completely different to D.Solve which should be a good alert ... Also a different colour. We work with chemicals and we work with them on peoples' bodies so concentrating on what you are doing is a key to not making mistakes. Luckily it was not a serious mistake and couldn't cause any harm, more of an inconvenience and a waste of your and the clients time.

I've actually made a mistake on my own eyes once. It was early on a Monday morning and my eyes were looking a little blurry so thought I would brighten them up with a little Optrex eye drops. WHoops, didn't mean to use my nail glue that was in the same bag. Six hours laterin casualty and a very sore scratched eyeball , they had to pick the crystals out of my eye with tweezers.

I won't do that again! :D

Me and chemicals obviously don't mix. I must concentrate!!!

Ouch!!! I remember once I was trying to get the lid of a bottle of fibre glass resin with a pair of plyers cause it wouldn't budge, well it did eventually and splattered all over me. It was all down the front of my uniform and on my chin and in my hair....All this happened right in front of my client. I was mortified but we managed to have a good laugh about it in the end. Thankfully it missed getting on her and I had another unused bottle handy so used that instead. I carried out the treatment with a stiff uniform and glue on my chin and hair. :)

Strange what we do - I always used to use my teeth to open cans of coke with until my Dad pointed out that it was easier and cheaper to replace a broken nail than a broken tooth!!

But don't worry about the mistake, she almost certainly wouldn't have noticed and it all turned out ok in the end xx

No it wasn't too bad. I managed to drive myself to the hospital. It just scratched a bit everytime I blinked. Luckily my eye didn't stick together completely, just the corner.
