I'm so excited for you Noreen. I wish you weren't in Cork but in Dublin instead, I would be your best customer. Not only for your lovely nails and make up but for your waxing. When you waxed me before I thought you were excellent so I can only imagine what you will be like after Kim, you will be the best in Ireland.xxx
2014 I'm going to try to improve and perfect my technique and skills and then I would like to do specialised brows, shellac and waxing. Its hard waiting I want to do it all at once!xxx
I'm looking to do my kim lawless intimate waxing and my contour d'ior tanning xxx

Which was like more than 6 months ago :I
Will hopefully be taking in decleor pretty soon so will be attending their weeks facial training
Hi Claire
I rent a section in a hair and beauty salon , I do all the beauty inc make up however editorial make up is my passion and I market myself as an editorial make up artist completely separately from the beauty salon , I try not to mix them as the fashion world tends to be quite snobby and looks down on make up artists who don't solely do make up for a living .
I was doing make up for an editorial just before Christmas and while on set the stylist introduced herself to me , and obv I said nice to meet you I'm Noreen O'Connor. She said something along the lines if she'd seen my work before and can't believe we had met before and was SUPER friendly . Well as we chatted she asked how the make up was going for me and I honestly replied that my main income was from the beauty salon and make up jobs really only come up a couple of times a month so not really able to make a living from them , well she was so horrified that she did a double take at me and lost all interest in me for the rest of the shoot ( not that I was that bothered mind lol)
Just goes to show though doesn't it lol
I do take on bridal jobs outside the salon and get clients from both the salon and my website that is solely marketed at the editorial side of things .
Hi Noreen,
I too do a lot of make up and have worked in film, commercials, editorial, photoshoots etc and market that side of my business separate from my beauty business. There really is a total snobbery in make-up against beauticians regardless of their make-up training as we are not specific to make-up. They see us as 'jack of all trades' and I even read a post on another forum describing us as such. Well sorry but unless you are at the top of the tree and working full time in make-up (which most do NOT) then it's a part time job. We, as beauticians and make-up artists are keeping ourselves gainfully employed full time so sod those that make mean comments. (I have seen your work by the way, it's fabulous!)
Just going back to the OP, my bucket list of training stands at lash extensions (still not sure which brand though), CND Enhance and PTTLS or whatever the new one is called.
And the best thing I ever did for my business was training in make-up, it has brought in loads of new business and especially bridal work which has rocketed my income so go for it!
I AM GOING TO THE DECLEOR MOTHER SHIP FOR TRAINING ON MONDAY! SO EXCITED! I shall report back... does anyone know if they feed you btw?

I wanted to add shrinking violet this year but i'm a bit scared as have heard we practice on each other and being a size 18 is putting me right off lol. I'm 30 next week and last year I trained in so much and have my little home salon to do something I love before I hit this milestone so this year is going to be all about pushing it more and gaining more clients

How do you get into doing commercial & editorial make up?
I did a LOT of testing with photographers when I started out and some have come back to me for paid work as they liked what I did. The commercials I got from being contacted though Mandy.com.
Hey guys
Never heard of Billion Dollar Brows - what is that??
