I want to build my own website. I asked on here yesterday what company to get my domain name from & how to build my website. Well im slightly worried, As i can get my domain name for £6.00 for 2 years but theres add ons i can get. I can get a email [email protected] like that. Thats £1 a month. But isit safe? i dont want to be getting this lot & them be taking money out my bank willy nilly, when they feel like it. Can someone help, i dont want to be conned out of money.

Sites are weebly to do a free website design

123-reg | Domain names | Domain name registration for my domain name.

HELPP  xx

Hi,

When you buy a domain name and email address from 123-reg they take payment for a year for the email address, and two years for the domain. They don't take money from your account on a monthly basis. Then at the end of the year you can choose to renew and pay for another year, or just cancel.

I can recommend 123-reg as they are who I bought my domain and email from, I've never had any problems.

Hope that helps.

Thankyou, I just wanted to make sure. But if youve never had any problems thats brilliant. Thanks alot xx

My website is with vistaprint and I think they are great I have loads of features and its only about £6 a month!!
Hope you get sorted

123-reg get my vote as they are who I use personally. I don't use their email though, as I run my own Linux servers, so it's easy enough for me to set up whatever email accounts I need on my servers and just use 123-reg email forwarding (which is no extra charge when you have one of their domains rather than the £12 + VAT they charge for email).

But if you are using something like Weebly for your website (who don't offer email) then 123-reg email is probably as good as any... even if you have email with 123-reg, then using Weebly with a 123-reg domain is still a more cost-effective option than a VistaPrint website - as well as it being easier to point your domain name elsewhere in future should you ever want to move to a different website provider (whereas VistaPrint charge extra to move your domain name away from them, and the procedure to do so is rather long winded and quite a hassle)...

Has anyone tried wix.com to build their website? Im in the middle of designing one with them now.

Im confused a little tho. If i buy a domain name from 123 reg will i have to register the wix address they gave me with 123 reg or just my own .co.uk without having to have wix in the website address??

Wix is Flash-based as far as I know - which could potentially not be as good for search engine optimisation (SEO) and accessibility compared with a standard HTML-based site - although their sites are nice cosmetically on a Flash-enabled browser.

If you want to use a 123-reg domain with a Wix website, then you would need to ask Wix about configuring their server to work with your 123-reg domain name... you would also need to ask Wix for details of their nameservers - or the IP address of their server - as you will need to change either nameserver or DNS settings on 123-reg so that the domain then points to your Wix website...
