When removing cleanser, exfoliator and masks I prefer to use sponges rather than cotton wool. I think it feels nicer for the clients and being reusable its more cost effective too.

I have some of the ramer sponges and although I wash them after each use what would you recommend for disinfecting them?

At college we just pop them in the UV steriliser but I don't have one of those at home. For all my other 'tools' I use a tray with disinfectant but I'm quessing that would be no good for sponges.:irked:

Would love to know what you all do.:)

at college we were told to use MILTON steralizing fluid

hth

I wash them thoroughly after use then pop them into the microwave sitting on some clean kitchen roll and zap them for 1 minute. voilà!

I used to give the sponges to the client after every facial, they quite liked this as they were getting a freebie and it encourages them to use them as part of their homecare routine.

I use mitts now instead of sponges as I can then wash these at 60c after every client.

thanks Karen
I have several pairs actually!! I like to use them for removing masks, hadn't thought of using them for cleanser. Good idea.

i too use mitts, they feel so much nicer and are much easier in removing all products from the face. Its also great as you can stick them in with your hot wash.

I put them in a washing net and stick them in with my towels at 60 degrees
Hth's

I like using mitts, I made my own with a large towel and sewing machine then ta tarrrr mitts r us lol. wash up nice too. Plus made towelling booties for pedicures also as I always buff off the exfoliator from the feet xx

I wash mine on a 60 and then tumble dry them :)

just wondering do you all have towel warmers or do you have the mitts in water? thanks

I use mitts too, and am lucky to have a towel cabi.

I use mitts and sponges and wash them all in the washing machine at 60deg. The mitts tumble dry fine but I once dried the sponges and they shrunk!! x

i think its probably time i invested in a cabinet, my list for excel is getting longer and longer!
do the towels come out steamed or just warm, how are the masks rehydrated to be able to remove, probably being a bit dense, i don't know all this new fangled technology gets too much for me!

Washing at a high temperature with your towels should do the trick.

Mitts are probably more economical, seeing that you can stitch a couple of wash rags to make a pair, thats what I did!

Hand made towelling mitts for me as well. Which reminds me - I need to sew up a few more as my current ones are getting a bit thread bare:cry:

i rinse mines in milton then stick them in the machine to wash with my towels

sorry i didn't phrase myself well enough, i meant when you use the mitts within in a treatment and you have had them in a cabinet do they come out steamed or just warm. i was confused as if they were just warm would they remove the mask effectively. thanks

If they are put into a hot towel cabbi they will come out lovely and hot. I have to say it's one of my most favorite purchases I have made. :green:
