I have a client whose hair feels like straw. Combination of heat and chemical.

I have my go-to’s for treatments but wondering what everyone’s favorite hair treatment is. I want her hair to feel amazing and hydrated after her appointment this Saturday.

*I use Malibu miracle repair and Wella post color treatment on the regular but this hair is DRY

My new fave go to is "K18" it repairs hair from the inside outwards.. great after bleach outs! It is a after shampoo leave in treatment . All you do is apply to towel dry hair 3-4 pumps only as a little goes a long way with this one....work it through the lengths of the hair ... let sit 4mins....style as usual with/ without styling products.

Thank you for your response! I ended up seeing her this morning and did a big cut and a modified k18 treatment. I did so much research this week before landing on k18! I used their cleansing peptide, 4 minute mask, but then I followed up with redken 5 min acidic bonding mask and rinsed. After researching, I saw some textures can feel dry for the first 2-3 rounds of k18 treatment and wanted her to feel like silk after today’s appointment. I was going to do the stand alone treatment but chickened out at the last minute because I see conflicting information on before or after the shampoo

Can anyone recommend any good products they've used which has helped to re-moisturise their hair?

Up until now, I've always used natural things. (I've tried putting coconut oil on my hair but didnt really notice a difference, and have also tried olive oil. A very long time ago, I used to put egg yolk onto my hair but always remember how messy things got so I havent done that.)

Has anyone used anything shop-bought which has improved their hair?
Shampoo / Conditioner / Leave-in masks

I need to find a quick solution because I really dont want to trim any more of my hair. I've already chopped 1.5 inches about a month ago and was hoping to let my hair grow long

I wouldn't use the low ph mask afterwards. K18 is designed to use in place of the conditioner after shampooing & should be left untouched after worked through the lengths of the hair for 4mins. Then styled as usual. If you don't follow the manufacturers directions you most likely will encounter problems. Personally I have found all my clients of whom I've used K18 on yield soft shiny smooth hair afterwards.

Thanks for your response.
I combined them as mentioned at her last appointment already but will try just the k18 alone at her next appointment. Have you used Redken’s 5 minute acidic bonding mask also? Do you think using these in combination 1 time could cause further damage?

I have not tried Redkens 5 min. Acid bonding mask yet but I am curious about it as I saw it last time I went to grab some more K18. I do not believe 1 time will cause further damage but I do know with protein replacement products it is best used as a weekly treatment for severe damage tapering off to 2/month .. .1/month as hair regains it healthy qualities back. Over proteing can cause brittleness of the hair. With Joicos k-pak a conditioner is recommended after using it. I also like CHI's treatment/ color lock as it has a ph of around 3.5 i believe. It works great on finer hair types that can't handle conditioners as they weigh it down resulting in greasy stringy hair rather quickly after washing.

For dry hair, there are several natural remedies you can try to help restore moisture and improve its health:
  1. Coconut Oil: Apply warm coconut oil to your hair, leave it on for 30 minutes to an hour, and then wash it out. It's great for deep hydration and nourishment.
  2. Avocado: Mash a ripe avocado and apply it to your hair as a mask. Avocado is rich in healthy fats and vitamins that help moisturize and strengthen dry hair.
  3. Honey: Honey is a natural humectant, meaning it attracts moisture. You can mix it with other ingredients like yogurt or olive oil for added benefits.
  4. Olive Oil: Warm olive oil can be massaged into the hair to hydrate and add shine. It’s perfect for deep conditioning.
  5. Aloe Vera: Aloe vera gel can be applied directly to your hair and scalp for moisturizing and soothing effects.
  6. Banana: Mash a ripe banana and apply it to your hair. Bananas are full of nutrients that help restore moisture and smoothness.
