Hiya
Does anyone have a good method of doing a full leg wax that they would like to share with me???

I'm fine with the half leg, but as soon as I get above the knee, it all goes a bit Pete Tong and before I know it I'm getting all flustered and losing the will to live!!!

I think it's just cos the thigh is thicker and wider and hair grows in different directions - I don't know where to start!!
HELP ME!!!

Ta
:o

i hate them too but i just do the same as the rest of the leg getting right round the sides before you turn over not much help probably as its so tedious but i reckon someone will no more

The only way to do it is the same as the lower section of the leg working over the thigh in sections before turning your client over and repeating on the back of the thighs. Not really anything else you can do, I hate full legs too they take ages! The plus side is you can charge more ;) Hope that helps?!

One tip which I find really helps - wax the back of the upper thigh whilst your client is still lying face up. Before you turn her over after doing the fronts of the legs, ask her to hold her knee to her chest, then apply wax to the back of the thigh (just the upper part ) and remove with strips. This helps hold the skin really taut, as I always find the top of the thigh where the leg meets the butt can be a nightmare area.

Thanks for the tip! I hate that part of a full leg, especially if they are very hairy here! Thanks

I also hate doing full leg waxes - the top half takes ages. I have a couple of customers who book in for half leg wax and its the top half they want doing ! they use epilator on bottom half but it hurts too much to epilate the top half so they have it waxed !!

I use a large leg spatula it takes have the time than the lollipop ones.

I had a full leg wax (well sugaring actually) to do last night on a girl who had never had her legs done before. She is a regular for lip and eyebrows, anyway I digress.

It took me forever to do because she is sooooo tall (around 6ft), I thought I would be there all night. She also kept flinching and tensing her muscles, and I had to keep stopping. Once I had done the fronts of her legs she said that she really needed a break and a cup of tea. Well not one to disappoint my clients, I made both her and her mum a cup of tea, which then took them forever to drink!!!

Finally, after 2 HOURS (yes 2 hours) I was finished.

The reason I was there for 2 blinkin hours was because before we even got started her mum shoved her nails under my nose and said so what do you think of these then? She had a set of enhancement done at the college the prevous night and said she was unhappy with them because they were lumpy. I said that they just needed a little filing to smooth them over and they would be fine (actually they were lumpy as hell and really thick at the cuticle end). Anyway throughout her daughters treatment both the mum and the girl kept shvoing their nails under my nose and complaining. I just told them if they were unhappy to go back to the college and have the person who did them sort them out.

Then they kept interrupting me to ask about their skin, something we go through every time I see them and they just don't listen to the advice I give them.

Anyway sorry to go off thread a little - rant over.

I always thought it was just me who takes ages with a full leg wax. Glad to know I'm not the only one !

As for a solution to the problem, I don't have one ....... perhaps we can just refuse to do them :D

I must admit full legs are my least favourite thing to wax!

If you think it's bad on a female client, imagine the fun I have when waxing a hairy male customer who has never even so much as shaved his legs before... I need a lie down just thining about it, lol :D

I don't mind full legs... they only take me 45 minutes to do (brazilian included most of the time). I find it theraputic :)

I have never been asked for a full leg yet ... most of my wax clients just want the lower half doing. The trouble is I get my figers really sticky doing the lower leg so if anyone asked for the whole leg I would be in such a mess. I use the large roller on the lower legs and spatular every where else. Would the roller be suitable for the thigh or would a large spatular be more effective?
It was suggested to me to use gloves to help reduce the sticky fingers.. would the gloves not get all sticky instead and stick to the clients hair constantly?

Jen I was trained to do it with gloves on. I had to to qualify with VTCT. I couldn't wait to pass so I could stop wearing the darned things. For a start I have mega small hands so even a size small are too big for me!!!! I'd got through pairs of the darned things whilst I was training and practising. I am actually less messy without wearing them, although I am still quite a messy waxer!

when i'm waxing a large area such as top of the legs i tend to cover the whole area in wax in one go and then go back over with the strips. this is where the large leg spatula comes in handy. This method wouldn't work using the lollipop spatulas as by the time you had applied all the wax it would have cooled too much but using the large leg spatula works fine.

As for stickyness Jen i don't find that the wax sticks to the gloves as much and isn't as annoying. when is it that you're finding you're getting wax onto your fingers?

Once I have taken off about 6 or so strips ... there is often bits of sticky wax residue here and there on the leg and I must touch it as it gets transferred to my finger ends, then onto the roller wax cartridges then more on my fingers etc etc it just gets messy by the end. I clean it all up afterwards so I always start with clean equipment .. I just wish I could work a little less messy. I only use each strip for 2 or 3 at most strips then fold in half and dispose into my waste bowl. My bowl at the end is full of waste strips and spatulas ... totally none cost effective lol!!

I am not alone !!!! Hallelujah.

No matter how hard I try, I always end up sticky as well and then I just keep sticking to things all the time. Making the waxing a little more challenging

Waxing with gloves is such an unpleasant experience. Not only do you stick to everything even more, but your hands sweat like there is not tomorrow !

I am a huge fan of Sugaring for this very reason as it's water soluble so if you do get a bit sticky, you can just wash your hands and it's gone. However, a lot of my clients have really course, thick hair and I find that the strip sugar doesn't always work that great with them. Hence the honey wax comes out and things get messy !

hi, i've been waxing for years. I always put on talc before i apply wax, seems to make the area less sticky after the wax comes off. and i always keep the talc to hand, if i get any wax on my hands i rub talc on and it covers the wax taking away the stickiness, which u can clean off after the treatment. I also use cream wax, both myself and my clients prefer it. To wax the top leg I do the outer side just the same as the lower part. To do the inner thigh I get my client to bend her leg and lean it to the side, as u would with a bikini wax, I then ask her to hold the top of her thigh and pull her skin taut. makes it easier, and less painfull. takes me about 30min ish, depending on how much i'm nattering.

I wear gloves for every waxing treatment, from eyebrows to legs. The funny thing is, during my training the only areas we had to wear gloves were for the bikini and underarm!

I can't stand latex, as they make my hands sweat and the glove sticks to the strip when you try to rub, but vinyl gloves are great - you can just replace one if it gets sticky, and I personally feel it's more hygienic than wearing nothing on the hands at all.

Sass, have you tried the small nitrile gloves - they seem to be a little bit snugger than latex or vinyl, although they are a bit pricier. There are a few online medical suppliers that sell them, PM me if you want more details :)
