I also had many strange male requests when advertising on gumtree.

The best one I had was asking for a full body massage, loads of normal questions and then... Would you mind if I was naked? I prefer a "soft and sensual" massage, would you mind if I had an organza covering instead of towels as I easily overheat?!

Hahahaha, over heat. I bet you do, you perv!

Needless to say I don't advertise on Gumtree any more and have had no further dodgey requests.

Being a mobile therapist myself I have to say I don't treat men unless they are husbands/partners of my existing clients and I have met them (and approved them) previously.

Going out to a strange mans house to do a treatment alone I feel is asking for trouble. Its a sad fact but unfortunately its now the kind of world we live in.

You can never be too careful!

When I advertised on guntree and other free websites I constantly got men texting or ringing for tans with weird comments and voicemails I have now taken my number off them and haven't had any since xx

I also find that gumtree attracts the pervy men, I've had 2 of them now. I didn't get any genuine enquiries sadly so have decided not to advertise on there anymore.

It really annoys me that they think we offer that sort of service. My posts are always professional and I always link my website which is also professional. I don't know why they think it's a front for an escort/prostitute service!

They also annoy me because I know how much some men love treatments and are often even more loyal than women. Unfortunately, these pervs make me feel reluctant to treat men.

Well done to the OP for sticking to your guns and saying no x

Well he didnt reply to my last text that said no I wont do it so if he does get in touch again I absolutly would not consider now!

Glad to hear it

There is absolutely no need for a guy requesting a spray tan to mention the word "penis". The moment he does mention that, you have to know he is not genuine.

By the sounds of things I don't think its genuine, I wouldn't do it he sounds like a creeper!

Hi there girls, I had posted a beauty advert on gumtree and received a text from a man askin if I sprayed men? I replied yes and stated that it couldn't be nude and I would need a chaperone as per insurance advice, he then aske if a small thing would be ok? Why did you contact the police? Am I missing something?

Easiest answer to this, is No Chance.

As a straight guy, I've also been presented with guys wanting a naked spray tan.... it's just simply not going to happen and young therapists should also refuse. We know it's not right. (I don't spray tan any more unless training).

The easy solution is get them to buy a take-home lotion following the treatment so he can rub it into himself. Offer the spray tan so long as he wears underwear (even a thong will do, so long as them front parts are covered) on the recommendation that he purchases a home tanning lotion from you, or an aerosol tan, most brands supply these products and should make them available for you to retail, adding value to your service.

Eeewww, always a nasty question that one.

Why is you being straight anything to do with it?

I definitely feel therapists should go with their gut instinct but I think there's a very fine line between setting your boundaries and actually discriminating.
Is there an issue with men wanting no tan lines, if they are paying for a tan they shouldn't really have to be spending more money. Thongs are fine and able to be moved to spray any lines, comments re pubic hair- I think most guys unless they wax won't have it all covered in one of those thongs.

To the poster who called the police- little ott in my opinion, perhaps he shouldn't of said oh my pubic hair will show but if you have a problem with pubic hair then perhaps you are in the wrong profession. Lord knows I've seen plenty of women who've never been acquainted with grooming in that region, but it's not in the least pervy.

Men who are texting about their penis etc are already getting off without needing to come for a spray tan!

Not necessarily, they may just not have a clue of tan etiquette..instead of texting clients, back and forth just pick up the phone and call them. Speak to them directly, tell them what you expect them to wear etc, be clear with them in explaining that they must wear a disposable thong and genitals must be covered. If you are clear concise and professional then there shouldn't be a problem, if they keep pressing the point about willys popping out or anything of the sort then explain to them that you are a professional therapist and you expect that to be respected, any further then just tell them they would maybe be better looking elsewhere. End of.

What do you say to women who want to be naked? Or is it only men who get off on things?

That was the whole point of the text to start with.
At my salon no one gets a completely nude tan, absolutely no one. *
No tanning solution is intended to be applied to mucus membranes so those areas are simply out of the question.

Ok, so for everyone that said point blank refuse, hes obv a perv ect..

What if female clients asked for this?
Would they be treated with the exact same negative response?

Wouldnt even reply to him in future - it's not worth the £20 (whatever you charge) to feel so uncomfortable/worrying about it. Your safety MUST come first xx

Wearing a thong shouldnt be a problem for him then?

Why does he have to mention his parts/hairy bits!?

I imagine it would depend how it was worded. If a woman said I will be naked or Will have a bit of my *ahem* out I would probably avoid them too.

Thats such a good point! But I still don't think I could do it. :o x

I spray naked men and women. I don't have a problem with it at all. I am salon based though.
I have never had any problems with men at all and about 30% of my clients are men.
I get the odd strange call sometimes enquiring about intimate male waxing but believe me, these clients are never going to actually turn up for an appointment.
If you feel uncomfortable at all then you can just say no!

Oh dear! Believe me I have no wish to take comments out of context to prove a point, I'm just genuinely curious why your own sexuality was brought into it. It's a valid question and to be frank I find it laughable that you say I'd have to be a guy to understand it. That's a whole lot of your own thing going on there!
No taking any cheap shots, it's a discussion that's going on not personal attacks.

I'm actually wondering why you seem to have taken such a bad reaction to my post!
Firstly I'm not a salon owner and I would never expect anyone to do anything they aren't comfortable with, the same way I don't do anything I don't want to do.
Secondly, cheap little schoolyard jibes about my business acumen? I do retail, but I dont do a tan and tell someone to go home and rub this into yourself. My job is to do a great tan and retail products were appropriate eg tan extenders, lotion, washes etc. I can assure you my business acumen is perfectly good, when you have run multi million euro stores on premier shopping streets you learn a thing or two.

I'm very sensitive to be concerns being aired, I've experienced my own fair share of weirdos, but what I won't do is be nasty and juvenile with comments about being down on your knees in front of a Naked guy.

I don't believe anyone has to be naked gettin a tan but it's funny how on here men are always painted to be pervs for wanting something we wouldn't question coming from a woman.
Where a client, male or female is being inappropriate it's up to you, as the therapist to take the lead and stop it. Texting back and forth is not professional and only feeds the oddballs who are getting the kick out of you replying.

I see Itan removed his comment...as well as editing the other one about his transgender client. Good.
