Oh ok!! Fingers crossed it should be ok then :)
Thank you!!!

I've had a mare with free hand nail art being hit and miss and I can't risk it for a wedding this weekend! Nightmare

Thank you :D:)
Oh I hate free handing, stamping is sooo much easier! I bought the fashionista lacy plate for weddings which I think will be popular with my brides x

Yeah that one is so nice! I'm hoping if I get on well I'll get a few more and never do free hand again!!!
The order has just been updated to shipped so I'm keeping everything crossed it arrives early so I can practise!

Is it fairly easy to do? I've had a cheap stamping set before and it's been rubbish but I've heard great things.
Any tips? :D

Which stamper do you have? It all takes a bit of practise as you have to work quite quickly so it's good to have everything to hand. When I stamp I use, some kitchen roll on table, stamper, plate, polish, scraper, acetone and cotton pads (to clean plate) and lint roller (to clean stamper).
I learnt a lot from YouTube videos, Sarah R's are always good.
If your stamper doesn't pick up to start with then you might need to prime it first.
And don't get disheartened if it turns out hard than it looks it just needs some patience and practise, and sometimes different polishes and stampers work better with different plates, just to be awkward! X

i bought the crystal clear sticky stamper and the scraper, white stamping polish and 2 bridal plates.
I'll check out her videos :) How do you prime the stamper?
I'm hoping the clear stamper will help with placement etc so I can actually see what I'm doing!
Yeah I'm going to practise like crazy when it arrives before she comes to her appointment, weddings are so much pressure with designs. I just like the simple ones :p

Thanks for your help!

My order was shipped last Tuesday, and arrived on Thursday so you should have plenty of time to get some practising done :)

A couple of extra tips to follow Carla-laa's great advice :)

If your image isn't picking up as crisply as you like, try changing your pick up method. I've got about 6 stampers and they all behave differently! Some prefer to be rolled over the image and some like to be stamped directly down, and they all need different pressures...

Once the image is on the stamper, you can remove anything you don't want before stamping on the nail - just use the flat side of your scraper to pick up any undesired bits (accidental splodges/images from a nearby section of the plate etc.).. I learnt this from Sarah R and it's an invaluable little trick!

I mainly use gel polish, and always stamp over the topcoat. This makes it really easy to clean off an image that hasn't gone right - just a little bit of acetone free remover and it'll wipe straight off. This is a handy method when practising or testing new stampers as it cuts down the number of pop sticks used - just rinse and repeat :) On my own nails, I seal my stamping with regular topcoat rather than gel polish so I can change the design as often as I like, without affecting the underlying manicure.

Last one - a lint roller is a great tool to have for cleaning your stamper between uses.

Hope this helps - and happy stamping! :)

PS You prime a stamper by gently buffing the surface with a file. You shouldn't need to do this with a clear stamper though, because it'll stop it from being transparent! I'd definitely recommend the lint roller for clean up, because acetone can also affect the transparency of a stamper head.

I placed an order on the 1st and it still hasn't shipped yet, but then placed an order on the 2nd and it was delivered last Thursday, still waiting on my first order

Loads of great advice.

Organisation and speed are key especially the steps between brushing the polish onto the plate, scraping and then picking up. After that you can take a bit more time to clean the image up and place. Clean your plate with acetone between each image application.

I almost gave up but stuck with it and love it now. The combination of plate, polish and stamper varies.

You can't really prime a clear stamper without damaging it and don't use acetone on a clear stamper. I use cellotape between images and a wash in soapy water when needed.

Thanks for all of your help guys :) Appreciate it! I can't actually wait to use it now!!
I'll definitely get a lint roller.
I'm a little worried the designs won't be big enough for her nails, I didn't notice the bigger ones with less images.
I'm going to be working over gel polish as well so at least I can remove any splodges if that happens!

Yay! Thank you :)

Anyone know what the difference is between the new Crystal Clear Stamper and the Kaleidoscopic Clear stamper? I can't decide which one to get....

It's the dimensions - the Crystal Clear one is shorter, but nearly 1cm wider at the top, so a bigger stamping head :)

Oh right, thanks! :)

My parcel arrived this morning [emoji119]
Lots of time to practise now, I'm so excited!!! [emoji16][emoji16]

Out of interest, does anyone know if Moyou does a Harry Potter stamping plate? Or does anyone have any suggestions as to where I could find one?

I don't think Moyou do, but My Online Shop have a plate that includes a few Harry Potter inspired images (it also features Dr Who, and a Sherlock Holmes image at the bottom right that I'm quite taken with!). The plate is available in the UK from Nail Artisan - here's a link http://www.nail-artisan.co.uk/product/my-online-shop-jr-31/

I also came across another company called 'HeHe', and they have a collection of HP plates - these look a lot more 'Pottery' but don't know if they ship to the UK, or the shipping cost if they do... I'll just leave this link here for you to investigate further if it's of interest :) http://aiyoohehe.com/products/the-harry-potter-collection-025-036?variant=2079017729

Awesome! Thanks @cheeka

Hii!!

Me again :) So I've been practising with these and they are coming out ok but on some with text on I'm struggling to actually pick up the text. Is this all down to pressure?

Also, when the nail is small and the image larger do you just choose which section of the image you want actually on the nail and then just clean up the excess from the finger?

TIA!

Pressure can be a strange thing with some stampers - I have a clear stamper from Moyou Nails (not Moyou London), and I've found that picks up loads better with a really gentle touch. It feels counter-intuitive but it works without fail for that particular stamper. Your best bet is to try everything until you hit the technique that works for you - pressing gently and then progressively trying more pressure, as well as switching between rolling across the image and pushing straight down on it.

As for any excess, then yes, you're pretty much spot on. Stamp on the nail, then clean up the finger with a polish remover. If I'm using a dark polish to stamp with, I use a skin protector (I personally use liquid latex, but there are latex-free versions available for those with allergies) - paint the barrier on the finger around the nail, wait for it to to dry, stamp then peel off the barrier. It's an effective (and satisfying!) clean up, but it does need an extra product and I know some techs prefer the polish remover technique for this reason.

Hi Cheeka thanks for your reply.

I have liquid latex so I'll definitely get some of that out, I'm only using white stamping polish at the moment though so it's not too bad of a clean up.

Ok so all about practice and different stampers, works fine for the bigger designs to just roll over and roll onto the nail but the text is a nightmare.
I'll definitely keep going though and try different techniques!! Thank you [emoji16] Appreciate the help!
I'm loving the stamping, been practising on my sister and she is now in love as well [emoji23] Can't believe I waited so long [emoji122]

Aah, once the stamping bug gets you, it gets you good! :)

Does the text pick up OK on the stamper? If it does, you could try pushing straight down on the nail to transfer the image - I sometimes find that rolling can distort the finer details. Something else that's worth a shot is using different parts of the stamper head to pick up the text, as you'll have a slightly different 'squishiness' level in the middle and at the edges... so many things to trial!

Glad your enjoying your stamping journey - hope it all goes fabulously at the wedding (is it today?!), and make sure you share pics of your work afterwards! :)

Not really, it picks up the image but not the text. I'll try it on different area of the stamper though, this sounds a good idea!

Yep appointment is this evening at 6 - I'm actually so excited for it but hoping she will be happy with the design. I'll definitely post the finished shot :D

Thanks!!
